my lot are just starting to move again. so I'm heading back to the kitchen, goose fat and roasting to be done so far, everything else is all prepared. Xmas dinner is fairly easy after doing it for 10 years + though eating it isn't as nice as cooking it for others. So I'll look forward to later and picking at what I want.

New Year is my thing. But for now it's lovely to do the xmas thing for peeps.

Happy Xmas to you too :D Yeah very traditional, us ;) Mum says the same about cooking for others being better than eating it, though the past few years I've lurked in the kitchen helping out and trying to figure it out for when I finally have to do it myself. Sister doesn't have a clue :D

I would have only sold the I-pad though & got heroin & crack with the cash though.

I prefer class A drugs & 4MeO PCP above anything tbh but thats just me ;)

I got 70cl of southern comfort & 3 Ernest Hemingway books (yes I am yet to read the old man & the sea sadly) so I can do the old guy justice while I get fall down, piss yourself drunk with his book in my hand, I think he would lookdown from his Cuban heaven resting ground with a great Marlin in his hand & think "That crazy English man is doing it in style, when he dies God will know his got a true fighter on his hands"

Mine been pretty chilled out so far. Had few vallies this morning and been drinking Advocaat,which I love having at xmas.
Mate got me a great book about the 2nd World War that has got interviews with people from all different sides about their stories of what they saw and experienced during the war, very into that part of history.
Been strange xmas day with no gear but I guess I am actually appreciateing the day more due to having no gear.
Not eaten yet as we watched few DVD s but dinner shall be served in about 20-30mins according to my mate.
 
BHM is also another WW2 nut, he knows so much about it & got me into "The world at war" on the Yesterday channel on freeview.

the battle of stalingrad imo is the most amazing battle of WW2.
 
When it comes to the point where you can't even have a sad-bastard's Xmas day in feeling sorry for yourself without a spoiled Russian and a bully-boy Spaniard both banging on your door in quick succession and attempting to involve you in whatever they're squabbling about now, then... well.

A polite 'not today of all days, please' was the first offering. Which should have been enough.

What followed when big Spanish geezer then ignores said polite request and attempts to shout me down was something which thankfully doesn't often surface, but which soon caused him to stop even attempting to raise his voice at me, and get out sharpish. My Russian housemate was also sufficiently spooked to retreat to her room.

It begs the question though - why? Am I the 'dysfunctional' one here or what?

Hope everybody else is having a good 'un though. :)

Yeah, The world at war is an excellent series. It must have been fucking evil fighting during the Russian winters. I've seen photos of german soldiers who lost their nose due to the extreme cold.
Brave men and women in those days.Some weren't even really men yet but by the end of the war they have that thousand yard stare due to the horrors they had seen.
Fucking glad I wasn't alive then.

Im a ww2 fanatic aswell. Have the entire series of world at war on dvd.
It very graphic.
Checkout the "Genocide" episode about the holocost its wtf extreme they would never show footage that raw on tv these days prob for the best.bit of a buzz kill on christmas day lol

some of the faces I agree with you 100% could melt tarmac with the eyes, what those people must have seen is terrible.

my adopted grandad was in the Navy & as they lived in "Sunderland" sp? told me of a bombing raid that caused a guy to get his face burned off (ears, nose, lips, part of his eyes) yet didn't die & had to live the rest of his life with 40% of his face.

A few years ago i used to collect ww2 memoriblia medals etc. Allied and German. My friends began to suspect i was a secret nazi lol when they seen an iron cross 2nd class and service medal with a swastica from 1939.i wasnt had distant relatives that served with the british army in both wars

these great Writers need to be done the correct respect when reading their work, Hunter S Thomson in my view is only ever done in my yard with high grade Marijuana, 4MeO PC till things get too mad, beer or whiskey, William S Borroughs done with a good load of Heroin on the foil, so Hemingway must be done with hard booze served raw, no on the rocks crap.
Just drink right out the bottle & smoke Norwegian rolling tobacco to mix it up a small bit.

Gonna buy that off amazon, always found war stuff interesting and shocking, watched world war 2 in hd color or whatever its called on sky docs, few other things, and enjoyed band of brothers
