Hi there.

My doctor prescribe me trazodone for sleeping disorder and as a serotonine reuptake inibhitor, but after a little research i see it's metabolized in...mCPP ???

I remember mCPP in extasy pills long time ago and it was really not helping me to sleep, i hated it really, but i think the pills was overdosed.

I really don't know if i'm gonna try this medication, but i have serious sleeping issues. Anyone experienced with this ?

I was on trazadone for a bit and I found that 3-4 hours or so after taking it, I would awake in a state of sleep paralysis but much more intense than it would be when I was a kid and had sleep paralysis naturally. My heart would be pounding and I would be sweaty as hell, unable to move whatsoever and the hallucinations were intense. It was nothing at all like the "natural" sleep paralysis that I used to get because the anxiety/fear would be bolstered by noises and just mental delusions, not visual hallucinations. It was similar to a case of sleep paralysis that I had when I fell asleep on dexedrine.

I can only speculate that maybe my own personal body chemistry allowed large enough amounts of mcPP to be formed to cause this effect, but it also could have just been the Trazadone itself doing this all.

how often did you experienced these sleep paralysis ? have you mix it with other drugs ?

I'm not subject to sleep paralysis, it happend to me only once and it was after a huge dissociative/stimulant binge if i remember. So i'm not too worried about it. Anyway thanks allready for the answers guys.

Trazodone sucks. It's not a good drug to be on. I used to get those "zaps" from it, and I would get sleep paralysis like Ligaturd. Only took it for a week but as soon as I stopped those symptoms went away.

I experienced it every time that I took Trazadone for a little over a week and then it seemed to stop but I ended up not taking it anymore soon after. It doesn't sound like a common side effect from what I have read, although it was quite bothersome for me.

Yep, when I was 18 or is it 19 ? During my heavy lsd usage days, i had sorta started to feel really nervous (anyone eating close to half a gram of 'cid a week would I bet), and I didn't have a personal gp then.Walk-in clinics are often very difficult to get in so I just went to the first doctor that could see me about the anxiety and insomnia, strangely enough i never had HPPD or "flashbacks" or whatever, I think the psychedelic revelations and 9/11 coming all at once then was too much for my brains to handle :/ Anyways, I tell him about those symptoms and he goes "oh, let me get your hospital record faxed and I'll see if you are fit for my special regiment *wink* *wink*" Thinking I was going to score benzos from him or something I was getting butterflies in my stomach (hey, i was 18 or so). He comes back to me with a script for Ritalin 10mg bid and trazodone 50mg at night.

Well, after a week I had about 3 or 4 uncontrollable seizures where I didn't fall into unconsciousness but was really tripping hardcore with closed eyes. I browse the net a shitload about possible bad interactions between the 2 meds. Not only did I discover trazodone increased toxicity of methylphenidate which could explains all the shaking and seizing, but trazodone fucking metabolizes to mcPP. So often I would be unable to sleep even after taking 50mg of trazodone and I would get into nightmarish wide awake seizures. I then thought, well no fucking kidding, mcPP is a legal (back then) shit drug close BZP AND TMFPP, so i threw away the shit but I felt a bit broken from a week or 2 of using trazodone+ritalin than from major amp comedowns in the future, comedowns i'd experience on LSD.

Those were never as terrifying as this mcPP + methylphenidate combo tho. Also never went back to that Quack with a very big Q.

I've had the same wide awake seizure deal n its terrifying for me. I was prescribed trazadone as a sleep aid and it did nothing for me. I don't sleep often and never without the aid of something. Try benedryl... or seroquel.

Small 25mg seroquel pills which do not exhibit antipsychotic activity and all of the shit that comes with antipsychotics do great for sleep, i am scripted 60 a month cos sometimes it happens I need 2, but rarely. But if you arent canadian and lucky (havin most of prescription fully paid for by government), seroquel is expensive and i dont think americans have quetiapine generics yet, so be aware it just works well cos it is an antihistaminic at those doses, a pretty strong one. Hydroxyzine (Atarax) 50mg will do the same, just as good, it also potentiates benzos and opiates if you are into that. Hands down the best antihistamine out there and magnitudes cheaper.

As always peoples have different "point de vue" about AD

I have sleeping troubles since 10 years, and i cannot find a pills who make me sleep , i have tried a shitload of different benzo, they won't do the trick.

Thats really an issue...

I'm gonna try acupuncture this week and see if it's working.

What is the drugs who can really make you sleep when you want ? pleaz don't tell me about doing sport, not watching tv, not drinking soda and stuff, i know...

BillyBrain:

I currently take a combination of trazodone, olanzapine, and mirtazapine, and it's cured my insomnia, generally. Well, except for Fridays/Saturdays (long story).

OP:

Trazodone works well as a sedative.

i have tried those, make me sleepy but not sleeping, i even though of ghb. I'll try this week and see , i don't know ghb very much , only tried twice in party, i'm gonna try it as sleeping help.

Dont listen to these people. I been on trazodone for 9 months and it is a lifesaver for me. It does NOT give you the same effect that mcpp had in your E bombs. I had a batch of bart simpsons and I know what mcpp is. U'll be fine. If it doesnt work for you switch to seroquel. But I hate when people are so ignorant saying "things suck" because they didnt work for you. Seriously, everyone is different.

I remember way back in the day (13 or 14 years old) i had found quite a few bottles of trazadone in my grandmothers room. after some research i found euphoria listed as a side-effect (maybe on wikipedia?). after i saw that i didnt bother to learn anymore about it and ate some. maybe about 100mgs. i stayed awake and just felt like shit. i did this quite a few times until one day i went to school and took about a half gram of trazadone and thought i was gonna die. I couldnt breath it seemed and i was full of panic. When i calmed down i was pretty fucked up, and ended up blacking out or something (maybe anterograde amnesia?). but i had finally gotten that euphoria from what i remember. but after that i havent been able to take trazadone without getting panic attacks when it takes effect. weird...

For me personally trazodone worked very well for sleep @ 50mgs. At 100mgs it gave me a strong hangover. The reason I don't enjoy trazodone is that everytime I take it I would wake up with EXTREMELY intense boners that were sometimes painful. This happened to me at an inpatient rehab where I had 2 roommates, very awkward.

When I've accidentally dosed extra trazodone, mirtazapine, and olanzapine, I've experienced the very same phenomenon. Extreme panic/anxiety, perceived difficulty breathing, and relatively minor euphoria. Also some nausea.

I'm fairly sure it's definitely not the olanzapine, and I can't say about the mirtazapine. But I'd still say that what I feel is from the extra Traz, not the other two.

It's certainly not worth the panic and breathing issues to achieve the minor euphoria, though, lol.
