Feeling a high off of Suboxone?

So I just started Suboxone treatment two days ago again with my doctor due to my opiate addiction (was up to 120mg oxycodone daily) and surprisingly, I still feel a nice opiate high from just the Suboxone. Basically I am wondering how long will I continue to feel a high when I take the Suboxone before my body just gets used to it and I get no more "high" feeling? He has me on two 8/2mg Suboxones throughout the day. Some people have told me that maybe only the first week or so of treatment I will feel a high off of the Suboxone but I was wondering if there's anyone with first hand experience that can offer some input on this I would appreciate it, thanks.

oh yeah subs produce intense euphoria the first time you try them

then they start sucking dick after about a week. like your doc said.

what i suggest is that you use them responsibly and actualyl come off the opiate asap instead of maintaing on that substance. it's fucking horrifying trying to withdraw from it (if you thought oxy was bad

^^^^ hmmmm I have been thinking about going on suboxone, I'm on methadone now, and at a low dose, but don't want to be hooked on Subs like methadone, it's taken me a year to get down to where I'm at now.
I just though when I get down to 10 mg's switch to Sub's then taper.?

Yeah, for most people the high does not last very long at all (exact length of time will be different for everyone of course, but in general a short time a few days to a few weeks). Once in a while someone says they have been on Suboxone for a year and still get high off it, but this is the rarity and these people are usually on much lower doses. I agree that using Suboxone to taper is a better idea than long-term maintenance. Withdrawals from methadone or Suboxone after long-term use - even with a taper - are normally worse and much longer-lasting than the drug you are on it for to begin with (oxy, heroin, etc). The one problem is that if you just do a short-term taper and don't deal with your mental addiction, the reasons you use opioids in the first place, make it hard for yourself to obtain your drug of choice and learn how to cope with cravings, it's easy to just go back to using your drug of choice. But it's easy to do that once the Subs stop getting you high too. VERY important to work on your addiction and not just your physical dependence.

Yeah, it's so incredibly hard to get off methadone after being on it long-term, and once you get to a low dose it only gets harder to taper (*unless someone has only been on methadone a short time, before anyone who only took it for a month pipes up). One method that does seem to work for some people is to go on as low a dose of Suboxone as you can handle, stabilize for 2-4 weeks, then quickly taper off it. One of my doctors actually claims that this is the best way to get off methadone, as long as you are ready and don't just end up on the Suboxone long-term of course. What dose of methadone are you at now?

Yup when I first started subs, I got high off them for a couple days, but after being on it for 6months, I don't really get much besides energy in the morning when I dose...or if I wait 3 days or something after rakingr subs, and go into withdrawal then take subs, I get a nice buzz and relief feeling, but the next dose doesn't do shit

Enjoy it while it lasts because once it is gone it will stay gone

The high lasted 4-5 days for me. After that it was the same as laCster explained. I had to not dose for several days and then dose when I was in withdrawals in order to get that buzz again, but it would just be that one day until I skipped dosing for a few days again.

Hah, yeah. I got a surprising amount of euphoria the very first time I was ever inducted many years ago. But, I didn't really have that big of a habit back then. It didn't take long however for that feeling to go away completely. Sometimes these days, as I'm on a very small dose (which as we know is more euphoric than higher amounts) I'll get a very slight warmth but that's about it. Either way the high I'm going to get knowing that I'm off everything including suboxone will be 10x better. Almost done with this taper.

Do yourself a huge favor. Stop taking 8/2mg all at once. You are substituting one physical dependence for another. I am a person who has in the past done anywhere from 100-300 mg of oxycodone per day. I have quit oxy multiple times using suboxone, and it is really not too bad quitting. Now, like SwimmingDancer said, it's more important to work on the mental addiction as that is the reason that I have had to quit so many times yet still find myself hooked on oxys. But if you are using subs to quit, start with no more than 2 mg (or a quarter of a strip/stop-sign shaped pill). I know, your addiction is bad and there's no way that would get rid of your physical w/ds. I thought the same way... till I actually did it. On the first day, you may need to take 2 mg 3-4 times. the second day, maybe 2-3 times. On the third day, I start splitting the subs into 1/8s. I take 4 doses of 1/8 of an 8/2 mg sub on the third day. On the fourth day, I take 2 1/8 doses. Fifth day, I have no more physical w/ds. Now, everyone is different, but there is no reason to take 16/4 mg of suboxone per day for oxycodone addiction. I've helped many friends get off the same way I described. BTW, if you have some tramadol, it helps a ton if you take them with the subs during your "getting clean" period. Just some friendly advice from an experienced user. Best of luck.
