Michelin restaurants are lovely places, but the food is the centrepiece, they don't look at your clothes, care about your accent, they want you to love the food...I have no problem whatsoever in a Michelin restaurant telling the somellier I know almost nothing about wine, and let him/her suggest wines for us...same with the cheeses...

whereas in these middle of the road middle class high priced shitehouses they'd look down their nose at someone who's not too sure about wine or whatever..

I've never looked at it like that, thanks :) Theres a michelin star place in Bristol, a small family Italian in westbury, I only know this cos it was on Gordon Ramseys best british restaurant or something.

I've caused general confusion - Sham - that menu is for the winner of master chefs restaurant, down near MM

MM, I was on about going for a meal at the Fat Duck, but to be honest as long as you're paying I don't really mind where we go. me and Sham won't show you up, honest :D

lol adult babies now on Channel 4, shouldn't laugh but hard not to. Lets see what we see.

Only time I've ever eaten anywhere Michelin starred is the Devonshire Arms near Bolton Abbey. Could only eat in the Brasserie side cos I wasn't suited and booted after a trip to the Abbey and have to say it was poor. OK, the food was good but nothing especially out of the ordinary, lamb chops with celeriac puree ain't exactly gonna set the culinary world alight, they wanted the best part of a fiver just to stick a bottle of water on the table and the service was poor, fact it was busy no excuse for rushed and generally inattentive bordering surly staff. Manager looked quite put out when we inisted he remove the 12.5% discretionary service charge from a quick lunch bill came to 80 odd quid, no tips were left and I always tip.

Far better in every conceivable way was the Burgh Island Hotel just over the causeway on Bigbury Bay in Devon. No stars but the food, service, and atmosphere in a stunningly beautiful 1920s art deco hotel favourite haunt of Agatha Christie and that set was superb. Dining room looks like this. :) Barely had to look at the waiting staff and they were topping up glasses or bringing more free water soon as an empty carafe went down without being at all intrusive or demanding even of acknowledgement, though of course that was given. £200 all in we spent on a fixed-price dinner for two including the wines and cocktails but the best 200 quid I've spent in a long time. They send a sea tractor over for you when the tide's in, poor guy waiting 20 minutes in cold winds and rain cos we were late and nothing but smiles. Great place. Just wish I could afford the average £4-500 a night to stay there.

Watched Masterchef. Rooting for Kerry but thought Anton had just pipped her at the last, they both served up stunning looking food. So pleased with the result. Not seen them do that before. Nice one.

Mailmonkey, love that menu. What dad got from the garden soup, brilliant, lovely touch that, mushrooms sourced locally right down to the postcode. Used to be regular down Plymouth way at Bigbury 3-4 times a year with the ex too, would love to eat there. He'll be allowed to put the Masterchef thing up now won't he, no mention of it yet.

Who? Will or Peter? I'm guessing Will as Peter is a tubby fuck. Will Smith was a smackhead for years. His biggest claim to fame is being the official reporter for one of the papers and being busted on Tony Blair's plane for chasing smack in the toilets. Will Self <3

Peter Hitchens is an utter nobber. Fat, skinny, or just irrelevat in his ignorance. His brother, however, was godly <3

Will Self, not Smith, and I think it was John Major's plane ;)

Seems the same physique as always B & W. He does have a rare blood decease tho, and has to have regular transfusions I think

Never been to the Burgh Island hotel, we spend a lot of time at the beaches round there in summer, and go on the sea tractor over to the Pilchard Inn smetimes in summer...

I'm not taking the missis to the hotel there for a meal till we can afford a room or suite for the night...I'd love to stay there...

I''ve got a friend who plays in a Jazz band, they quite often do the evening entertainment there, most New Years Eve's too...would be good, but we get tooo messy to be out NYE....

nd yeah, shambles , hope bandw explained the confusion....Treby Arms is the menus I put up, Masterchef winner....

My missis tried to get us in at the Fat Duck a couple (or so) years ago for my 40th, but just couldn't be arranged, one of those places you need to book well in advance, years probably...

Treby Arms however, a lot of his food looks quite similar to some of the things he did on Masterchef, looks good, I reckon he should have won outright, just, only just....but I'd rather eat his food than the other joint winner...not that I'd say no (to her food!)..

watched the season finale of Dexter this morning. It's shite. They normally pull off a decent finale even when the season has been pretty mediocre, but not this time. And this season has been very fucking mediocre.

I know they've got funding for one more season, but I can't see it going anywhere after that. It really needs to end soon because I really don't want to end up hating it, but I'm almost there now

Tonight's "Inside Out London" or something, "Inside Out" for them savanerrrz, is doing a piece about pharmacies selling Diazepam, Temazepam, Oramorph and all sorts OTC.
Fucking mental - They managed to get over 300 tabs from 9 different pharms 8(

** .... Has been given an idea as he's not from down there.... **

just been loving Archer recently

me too, it's one of the best bits of the new series. the plot of this series is a little thin on the ground tho. not enough new situations for any of the characters to flurish imo, but yeah, the new relaxed and pensive Jez is a pleasure to watch.

Been meaning to check that Archer out

trying to crack on with dexter season 6 but failing, and not good to see the next season has gone tits up

Sons of anarchy is good, seen season 1 and 2. looking forward to game of thrones S3, whenever its supposed to be out

Sometime next summer :(, once again, read the books, they're amazing! Started watching death note after finishing s1 of SoA, not normally a huge anime fan but this seems pretty good, short episodes too when is a breather sometimes when you get hooked easy on a season lol
