I have experimented with methadone for about two years but I have some questions about it. First some info:
I use between 50-70 mg about once a week ( every seven days) and sometimes once every 4 or 5 days. There have been times when I have used two days in a row but that is very rare. I space out my doses to keep a low tolerance and so I do not have to take more methadone to achieve my desired euphoric effect.
I have been heavily addicted to heroin and opiates in the past, on mmt and suboxone treatment, and have found that while tedious, my method of opiate use (with methadone) works fairly 'well' and while I shudder at the thought of going a month without methadone, I am still able to live a fairly normal life.
My questions are,
1: How dangerous is this? I have read posts where some say 30 mg of methadone could kill a non tolerant individual.
2. If I use once a week will my tolerance slowly grow? I am aware of methadone's long halflife. I feel as if in the last year I experiencing less of a high, and I do of course suffer strong mental cravings for methadone when I am not on it, as well as minute WD symptoms (chills, insomnia) but I assume that these symptoms are mostly mental.
3: How long does it take to completely erase a methadone tolerance? (if it is even possible to)
4: would taking suboxone (bup) once a week and methadone once week help keep tolerance exceptionally low? also how long after taking a dose of methadone can one take suboxone without any negative effects?
Please help with this.
