A University of Colorado professor and two students need hospital treatment after reportedly being given drug-laced brownies.

Two students have been arrested in Colorado after allegedly giving cannabis-laced brownies to unsuspecting classmates and a professor, according to reports.

The pair are accused of serving up the cakes as part of a "bring food day" at the University of Colorado.

Police were called after an unnamed history professor needed hospital treatment, complaining of feeling dizzy and losing consciousness.

Two students in the class were also treated by medics, reports said, while several others fell ill.

Local newspaper The Daily Camera said 21-year-old Thomas Ricardo Cunningham and 19-year-old Mary Elizabeth Essa were detained at the weekend on charges including second-degree assault.

Good things are happening in Colorado and idiots like these people will bring it down.

Irresponsible kids probably used too much oil, eating that stuff can really fuck you up.

so amazingly dumb. SOME OF US JUST DON'T ENJOY WEED. even if it's technically harmless. weed DOES give me panic attacks, that is why i don't use it anymore.
that being said the whole thing reads a bit like reefer madness, if only because these people didn't realize they were high and therefore thought they must be ill enough to go to hospital, etc...
i can understand a bad reaction to the high, but going to hospitals? hmmmmmph.
fuckin' idiots, they're going to pick up on every negative headline they can get now. stop doing shit like this.

I agree with what previous posters have written.
I consider it at least incredibly stupid, if not slightly evil, to give people drugs without their consent.
I would be offended even if I ordered a decaf and the barista made a caffeinated coffee for me in order to trick me.
With something like weed, which is actually a fairly strong drug, I would be very upset if someone dosed me, though I am incredibly experienced with weed. For someone with no experience, it could be horrifying. Weed can be as strong as a full LSD experience, if you take enough of it (with little enough tolerance). This is especially possible with edibles, since it is easy to eat a gram of weed or hash (which is enough to be fully psychedelic for some people), though it is pretty hard to smoke that much (for most people, anyway), especially without knowing you are smoking.
I can completely understand why the prof went to the hospital - s/he probably thought s/had gone insane.
It would be terrifying to be that distant from consensus reality without knowing why.

Eating just half of the average pot cookie will incapacitate me. I like it though because I'm used to weed. I can only imagine what eating a full brownie would do to someone if it's a high dose one.

The media should exercise responsibility here. This story is not about the drug of choice used, it's that people were drugged against their will. Drugging people is criminal and I support jail time for these idiots.

Pot brownie victim: I felt violated

http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_22161790/pot-brownie-attack-cu-boulder

University of Colorado senior Sarah Meyer "felt violated" after learning she unknowingly ingested marijuana via a THC-infused brownie that two fellow students shared with the rest of their Early Modern Society class on Friday.
The prank sent her to the hospital after suffering what she described as an anxiety attack. She shook badly and was wracked with paranoid thoughts.

Meyer said she was so ill she missed a biology exam and a test to become a certified nursing assistant.

"I was annoyed," Meyer told the Camera on Monday. "I felt violated."

It's my understanding that the food was shared during a "bring food day" thing at their university?

Maybe it would be wise not to participate, as that's seemingly a very possible likelihood. Some people bake deserts with alcohol in it, other people bake cannabis into brownies. *shrugs*

I understand that many people would be very happy to get a surprise special brownie

however i do understand a little where she is coming from.... I am sure she was scared out of her mind when she got super high and couldnt handle it and then was very anxious...
also I would be pissed if someone "dosed" me right before I had exams.... really pissed actually

and even if its legal now.... it doesnt mean you get to give it to someone in an academic setting without their knowledge
Its fucktards like whoever gave her the brownie that give the anti pot people fuel for their movement

Yah but school SHOULD be a safe place.... I mean when its someones bday its fun to eat cake and stuff in class....
and bakesales are also good fun IMO
I remember my middle school stopped allowing that stuff for i guess this reason

besides who can resist a scrumptious looking cupcake or brownie.....

If you cook or bake with alcohol you won't get even a buzz from it since the alcohol is used for flavoring.

I have people who are hardcore AA telling me how I can't cook meals with sherry, red or white wine and how even consuming food that has alcohol in it that's been cooked off or evaporated is just as bad as drinking it. 8)

I never put weed into brownies I do like to add in coffee liqueur like Kahlua and that $tarbuck$ stuff that's just like Kahlua in place of water in the recipe. I also would add in walnuts.

I remember a friend of mine was given an herb brownie one new year's eve and she was only told later that it had herb in it, and she got very stoned but didn't really freak out but she was majorly pissed at the guy who gave it to her who never told her until after she'd eaten it that there was weed in it.

The prof and students may have never used weed before.
Since I have lots of experience with weed, I am trying to imagine if someone dosed me with something strong that I had never tried before - like a new psychedelic research chemical. I might freak out, since I would be so worried about what the hell I had ingested, not knowing how I might feel or when I might come down. I hope that my (pretty extensive) experience with psychedelics would save me, however.
But the prof and students might not have any experience other than alcohol and caffeine, for example. That could easily make it far, far worse than it would be with me.

Space cake was definitely the heaviest stuff I took at university. I felt like all my braincells were being held at a red light in a dark tunnel until further notice. Taking the stuff straight after a week full of exams, when the brain was exhausted anyway, probably wasn't a good idea either.

I was amazed how much lighter and easier acid was when I tried it.
