how is this still legal? it thought that alaska was part of america, not the stone age

using gays for sex is not going to make them feel very good. as a gay man who has been used as an experimental tool before i can tell ya it ain't good and did nothing positive for my self esteem

you need a bi man who can have sex with both of you because no gay man is going to want a woman there while he bones some dude. i cannot think of a bigger turn off.

There are 29 states where you can be fired for being gay or being perceived as gay; Alaska's just one of them.

How is this not a breach of the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment Cpt. H?

No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws

If you can't be sacked just for being hetero, this must be a clear breach? :?
 
Basically the laws in the individual states are you can be fired for any reason.

RIGHT TO WORK clause. So if you got fired for being gay you can't sue in state courts and federal courts are slower and harder to get going.
 
Gay people aren't sex toys to be experimented with then discarded.

^ as long as you are upfront about your intentions it works. It's using someone as an experiment, then telling them when they wanna see you again that is abhorrent behaviour.
I don't think gay sex is abhorrent behavior, and neither does my SO. The idea of a man kissing him creeps him out, but he doesn't have any problem with guys kissing each other.

We have been talking about it more, and he's warming up to it all...chatting on sex sites and stuff...I get the feeling that when opportunity strikes, he's not gonna need a blindfold : D

The lack of a law isn't a breach of a law. The fact is, those 29 states have no laws that explicitly protect homosexuals or people perceived to be homosexual, from being fired for that alone. The lack of those laws isn't a violation of the constitution.

You're missing the point. They don't have to have proof you're gay, they just have to claim that they perceive you as such.

I am personally glad I moved from Virginia for many reasons; this is one of them.

It's up to people to move away from such states if they don't support such laws (right to work clauses) or the lack of laws that protect people's sexual orientation.

...that, or you can fight tooth and nail for new legislation, which isn't necessarily going to happen, whereas you can move.

If you are unable or unwilling to relocate but want things to change where you live, I would recommend joining the HRC.

I never said it was. I said that a man befriending and fucking a gay guy as an experiment to see if he was bi, before telling him about the reason, is abhorrent behaviour. Concerning the points made in the few former posts.

Also CptH - I believe if you were born in a state which has ignorant laws, you should not move away, but fight for your right.

No, I was clearly. I read up on it later, I get it now. Not a 'protected characteristic' is it, and because the law doesn't say whether you can or can't be sacked for being hetero, it equally has nothing to say whether you can or can't for being gay either so the states can do what they want and make it up as they go along. Most bemusing, especially what with that all men created equal thing in the Declaration of Independence. Just comes as a huge surprise to a Brit on the outside looking in. Even we're better than that despite not having anything directly equivalent to a Bill of Rights FFS.

Ah. I misunderstood. And, I agree. I think, no matter how it eventually goes down, that everyone involved should be fully informed, and consensual. I did not mean to give the impression that it was ever our intent to deceive, or use/discard, or in any way hurt or abuse another person.
