Adderall and dexedrine prescribed at the same time?

Im prescribed 120 dexedrine 5mg ir's 2 in the am and two in the pm. Ive been taking them for about two months and in my opinion they are not working to the potential i thought they would. Im nto gonna lie, i was a big adderall guy over the past few years but then slowed down and with my mind stable and relativly drug free i decided, well fuck i got adhd. I validated that by saying "hey you know how you always say sometimes im so good with doing chores and homework and whatnot, well newsflash...i was on adderall every single time. So i went to the docs and got scripted vyvanse which i was a fan of but it turn out my insurance sucks marsupial scrotum and wanted me to pay 30 bucks a month for it, fuck that. My next choice of amphetamines was the almighty elusive dexedrine/dextroamphetamine. So with a bit of coaxing i got a script but now i realize its not giving me the physical energy (never as much as adderall) and also its not helping my mind function on a better, i guess u could say speedier level that helps me with my daily routine. NOW MY MAIN QUESTION IS IT RARE/LEGAL/EVEN FATHOMABLE TO GET SCRIPTED BOTH ADDERALL AND DEXEDRINE AT THE SAME TIME? I really really realy feel like my sweetspot would be 20mg adderall ir in the morning and 10mg dexedrine in the pm...is that so much to ask for? comon? Let me know if anyone has these scripts simultaneously or knows some one who does. Thank you so much for any responses! other meds i take are zzoloft 100mg,klonopin .5 4 times a day(run thru that script in two weeks) neurontin 600mg and dexamphetamine 5 mg 4 times a day plus ambien

I agree with this. Adderall has rarely proven to have fewer side effects.

The L-isomer of amphetamine is far from pleasant.

My doctor avoided prescribing me dexedrine due to its ease of use.

^^Agreed. I am prescribed vyvanse (70 mg) and adderall xr (10 mg) and I MUCH prefer the vyvanse (I don't get high off my meds though.)

Gonna go on a little tangent here:

I like vyvanse, but its metabolism does increase some side effects, I can't quite put my finger on it, but it definitely is only meant to be dosed maybe two or three times maximum.

I believe this is probably due to the fact that its "Gated" effect on the brain (The L-lysine) which only allows for a certain concentration to pass ultimately leads to your dopamine levels dropping from down regulation and the stimulant side effects becoming more severe even with higher doses. That's only my theory on why vyvanse is such a well manufactured ADD medication.
(So even at high doses, it's not going to get you high and cause significant dopamine issues.)


Whereas pure dexadrine can cross the brain without the gate effect vyvanse has. Thus it'd theoretically be easier to jack up your tolerance and abuse.

Adderall, especially XR, is somewhat bland in my eyes. The L-isomer really, really makes it difficult to deal with. I hated the panic attacks when I would have a cup of coffee while studying. Quite troublesome.

^^Yes. Using a moderate amount of caffeine with my ONE dose of vyvanse is very effective, but mixing caffeine with the adderall was exactly a "panic attack." I didn't know what you said about the vyvanse, so that is very interesting. So, theoretically, if I did a large dose of vyvanse in the morning, i could dose another large dose later on and that would be it?

I shy away from caffeine when using amphetamines.

I prefer memantine or low dose dxm to boost the effectiveness of dopaminergic stims and keep tolerance at bay.

As far as I know, Caffeine (In doses varying from 40-200mg) does not necessarily help or hurt amphetamine by a large scale. It can prolong the effects slightly, however it can also keep your tolerance from dropping. The vascoconstrictive effects are offset by some of its metabolites.

Panic attacks are sort of genetic. Some people may suffer some slight discomfort from being over stimulated. Others may believe they are dying and visit an ER only to find out they're perfectly fine.
