Want to get some facts straight about LSD before deciding for myself.

So I'm looking into taking LSD for the first time, and I would be totally all for it if I hadn't heard weird stories about people never being the same after taking it. I'm not trying to get anyone to convince me one way or the other about taking it I just want to get some facts straight before I decide for myself. I've heard stories (just stories) from friends about their friends (people I've never met) taking acid and then not being the same or going or crazy or some weird stuff. Can you have such a bad experience on your first trip that it really changes your personality forever? If I were to take it I would only take a single tab (if that, maybe just half of one and see how I feel) but it worries me that I could take it and never be the same again? Is that worry reason enough to just say screw it and stay away from it or am I just really misinformed? I obviously not consumed with worry over taking LSD or I wouldn't even consider it, I just like to be as responsible as possible when dealing with substances.

I had a friend of mine tell me his friend took acid once and like completely tore his apartment to shreds, kicked holes in the walls, smashed his TV, smashed his laptop and even smashed his violin. I don't know the guy he was talking about so I can't tell if it was just some BS story or not. What was the deal here? Could he have just taken to much and freaked out or what? I plan on taking a responsible dose (at least I think what is considered a responsible dose lol). Oh yeah, and I have tripped before on 2-CB and had a really great time on it, it wasn't anything enlightening or whatever but it was a lot of fun and I never felt uncomfortable the entire time I was on it. I realize that nobody can guarantee a great trip but it would be nice to have some good information from people who have experience the substance before. Thanks so much for the help in advance guys, everyone here is always a ton of help and I appreciate it!

you dont have to have a bad experience for lsd to change you, but the changes are usually positive. unless you have a bad trip. make sure you have someone whos been there before guide you through your first experience, and have some benzos on hand in case it gets too intense. you may not need them, but sometimes just having a safety net is enough to prevent a bad trip. compared to acid, i find 2c-b to be a cheap trick

Read the LSD first time thread.

Start low, show respect, and play safe.

Good luck on your quest.

If you've taken 2C-B then you know what it's like to take a psychedelic - Acid's not the same but there are similarities. One tab is a more than reasonable dose 90 percent of the time, so you're perfectly safe, go for it! LSD is physically non-toxic, which probably can't be said for 2C-B.

Will it change you forever? Highly unlikely, and as Dmytry pointed out changes are more often good than bad. If 2C-B was good for you, LSD should be great.

However, your friend's story about punching the walls and breaking the violin? Probably not bullshit. Some people are more sensitive to LSD than others, and taking too much can cause you to completely lose your mind, until the trip ends. My girlfriend has twice taken doses larger than 100 ug, (about 1 tab) and this has happened to her both times. She's small in stature and very sensitive to all drugs, so she's an extreme case but an informative one. (A normal dose is about 2 tabs for most, and plenty of people can take several hundred ug with no problems.)

You seem to be responsible, so I say take the leap!

some bad trips are better than good trips if that makes sense, start small dose build your way up cant go wrong

Most people get sold LSD substitutes or just outright bunk shit nowadays. Not saying you can't get real LSD, but I highly doubt it. LSD was prevalent in the late 90s early 00s, but it's not readily available in the US anymore.

Also, I wouldn't take LSD if you "don't want anything to change."

You probably *will* have a different view of life and yourself, after your first trip.

Plus the high is dirty and anxiety ridden. However, the spiritual and psychological insights LSD gives regarding one's own life and the universe are invaluable. That and the visuals. However, to get the slow moving visuals you have to take a good bit. Anyway, like I said, LSD is gone. I don't know why that fact is so hard for some people to accept, but it is.

Dresden,

Your broad claims are very foolish and kind of stubborn. The synthesis process for LSD is well known and competent chemists around the world are able to make new batches.

Yes it is true that there are DOX's and other chems being passed around as Acid, this is problem causing. However, that says nothing about the other sources of LSD. You can get testing kits and verify LSD. it's not some urban folklore.

I'm sorry you have trouble finding real LSD.

Cool, thanks for the help. I understand that things will be different after I take it, thats part of why I would take LSD. I'm looking for a good spiritual experience from the substance. These posts did help me feel more comfortable about taking it.

Yes there can be acute, strange and strong reactions. But when at a reasonable dose someone completely flips out, I'd say that person was probably mentally unstable to begin with. Some find it hard to say or check about themselves, others don't. If you know you have a strong will / learn from lessons, etc that is a good indication you will be fine. If however you react badly to things out of your control, you could see how tripping can be less than ideal - on the other hand it need not be.

Just take a good hard look at yourself. If you are hard to trust, hard to predict, hard to adapt, and so on... maybe reconsider. Other than that I think just start low and select a proper situation to do it.

Also, it will never be risk free. Taking drugs just isn't.

LSD made me appreciate life. before LSD, i was a walking zombie looking to get fucked up on whatever i could get my hands on with no ambition, no love, no compassion. after my life-changing trip, i've never been the same person, i've become my true self. this was 11 months ago as well. i haven't found LSD-25 since. out of all the psychedelics i've tried, LSD was the most life-changing to me. that trip holds a special place in my heart, and it was a bad trip haha.

If you are the type to panic easily, and let your emotions rule your life, then LSD trips are more likely to turn sour.

Generally those who "flip out" and trash stuff on acid were unbalanced to begion with. The vast majority of people act no different than their sober selves on LSD (well except a lot of them get silly and creative). It's only those that are totally unprepared for an experience they have no control over that have problems, in general.

As long as you remember that it will eventually all end, and you've taken a drug, you'll be OK.

Maybe use miracle berries to make the acid less sour?

Agreed^

Start low and slow. I had a brutal trip with LSD my second time. Simply took too much. I don't regret the experience, it was extremely profound. However, just go easy. Dose-response curve seems quite sensitive during the first couple of hours. Ride out the peak, and then just have fun.

This is very unrelated, but I've often wanted to try miracle berries on psychedelics. It'd be fun to freak your friends out by biting into a raw lemon in front of them and commenting on how sweet and juicy it is.

I get updates from google when LSD is in the news. The police make lots of LSD busts and its always real acid. Acid I get today is the same as i got in 1990 at dead shows. No one dying from od's on Rc's sold as acid. It may have happened but i don't think you could score RCs sold as acid if youtried. Acid isnt gone, its just more expensive

One of my friends took two tabs for his first time and was in a mental hospital for six months. He still takes acid, after a long, long break. He now takes half a tab, and considers that fairly intense. You never know how you'll react to it until you try it, which is why I always recommend keeping your first dose safe. As long as you do that, you'll be fine.

How do you define 'unbalanced'? IME it's people with visible psychological problems that seem to handle tripping best, while those who are on the surface 'healthy' are the ones who seem to flip out unexpectedly. It's the people who don't realise they're unbalanced who seem in most danger... and I guess tripping makes them suddenly aware of that, resulting in the horrible trips. Although I have schizophrenic friends and depressive types (the latter including myself), who all trip without bad consequence. The way I see it, is that these people all know what it's like to live in hell, so whatever a trip can throw at them, they've seen before.
