Hydergine as psychedelic and mental booster and drug addiction

Hi,

I'm recovering for long years of drug abuse mainly, Heroin, Ketamine, LSD, Meth, and Midazolam
I'm now living in Angola (Africa) for recovery but there is a lot of problem for me in Angola , drug stores never ask for prescription so I can easy get a lot of good stuff as opiates and benzos, but on streets just a lot of weed "I still smoking it" but no more other street drugs just some coke and MDMA but rarely you found it.
In the first month was very hard and i have buy a lot of midazolam and morphine IV ampoules not too much morphine 3 or 4 times, because i come from a long heroin addiction and when I arrived I was already 6 months clear and do not want another opiate or Keta addiction but I was close .
I'm still on meds benzos mainly but after all this I found my self "empty" and depressive, so one day I read about Hidergine and is effects on mental well being so decided to try it.
The effects at 4,5 mg is real there , feel more alive and starting to enjoy simple moments and more active and energetic. It really helps to drug induced depression and fatigue so i believe hydergine can really help drug addicts and many other mental disorders.
As hydergine is a mix of some ergot alkaloids i also wanted to discovery is possible psychedelic effects.
Even with a normal dose of 4.5mg I can see the psychedelic effects it guive a mental well being really like the lsd empathy but not as euphoric nor visual but colors become more defined and there is also that strange but good mental feeling of lsd.
So decide to try it in a bigger dose , I try 13.5 mg and this time the psychedelic effects become very more clear but they are mild is like a lsd trip without the dissociation and euphoric effects, but still euphoric at this dose and i feel very much alert to sound and colours and start a feeling of wonder and if you lay down with some music you can get a true meditative very pleasant effect.
I found this medicine to very effective my day's now are much better than before and i feel no more the opiate and keta induced depression and no more cravings for drugs, I feel no empty any more I fell happy and alive, so I believe that more research on hydergine can help many people.

Interesting, do any other people think the effects can be psychedelic or is this just another interpretation of marked nootropic effect?

I can see how the two come close (threshold doses of psychedelics can be nootropic IMO) but for something to be really psychedelic it has to go beyond things like clarity.

I have considered hydergine in the past but reading about possible side-effects IIRC put me off. What was it now, headaches? I don't really recall but I lost interest pretty suddenly after reading some accounts.

Yes, most of the posts about hydergine psychedelic effects are not too much clear and most of them was wrote by people who have not have real psychedelics effects so I think people who have not psychedelic experience don t link the effects to a psychedelic because they never felt it so most of strange effects are saw as side effects for the most of them, you can look and you don t found much information on real drugs forum there are not much in on hydergine as psychedelic but that is because just a few time ago pharmacologists discover that hydergine acts as dopaminergic stimulates mainly D2 and also D1 and D3 and serotonergic also at different receptors.
And about the toxicity is far safe this substance was created by Albert Hoffman and was one of this favorites that's why he took it for almost all is life and many studies are showing promise effects on longer life as it is also a very potent anti-oxidant and believed to be neuro protective.
Till now i have no side effects even at 13.5mg the body energetic abut relaxed ,no nausea just a pleasent high who look like 30ug of LSD and IM very clear on its psychedelic effects, the mood the wonder the shapes colors and sounds look s much more alive and this effects even not like a full blown psychedelic experience are certanly psychedelic effects and also the dopamine stimulanting effects, even at low doses I believe that what people call nootropics effects and of corse they also are come from the stimulation of dopamine and serotonin.
This substance as the pharmo dynamic of many others psychedelics and that is enough to confirm the psychedelic action of Hydergine that I believed it as been like out of the posts in psychedelic community because maybe some people don t want it to become popular because to protect abuse from this substance but i think this need ore investigation because is a wonderfull substance for depression , mood disorders fatigue and also can get mild but real psychedelic experiences very nice for meditation, i will try i higer dose and see whats happen.
If you look for true information I found some in Shulgin and Maps.org and in some other sources,but remeber a lot of post is just about the nootropic effects and are old post with the believe that hydergine was just helping oxigenating the brain and did t look far in the mechanisms of action of hydergine.

You know why Hydergine don't have many info? Why is a underrated medicine? You just need a little intuition to answer that...

Hydergine is a potent anti-depressant, anti-anhedonia and anxiolytic (anti-adrenergic). I can't tolerate high doses because it makes me lethargic and lazy (alpha-2 antagonism). Even micro doses like 100 mcg have a distinct effect. My dose usually is 0.5-1mg daily. I know it improves mood because everytime I stop using it my anhedonia, depression, suicide idealizations comeback. Maybe you won't feel the positive effects on the first dose. The package inserts recomends two weeks of daily use to start to feel the benefits. Hyder potentiates coffee or the later potentiates hyder, this combination induces anxiety but kills the lethargy that hyder can induce.

AMK Do you use it sublingual? Because I tried some 4.5mg oral and got a huge nausea. Why can you tolerate 13.5 mg? Big doses makes me super drowsy. I was using liquid Hydergine sublingual but the same dosage oral have more effects. I don't know why. I read some info on erowid that fat or coffee increases bioavailability.

I use it with Vyvanse (lixdexamphetamine). Hydergine alone can't treat my ADHD. I used ergoloids alone for many months without dex and I became a pleasure seeker and avoided doing my boring homework. Dexamp helps with motivation and hydergine with depression.

It's a "light" psychedelic for daily use. Colors are more bright, sound are more pleasurable and everything seems more vivid. It alters perception and show hints of the duality of reality ("What is real?")

I want to make an alert about Hydergine. While it is good for depression it can trigger mania in predisposed individuals, hipersexuality and impulsive behavior (like shopping, gambling...). It is easy to perceive my hypomania in many of my posts I made about Hydergine. Another side effect is lethargy (lazyness) and nausea with higher doses. I can't tolerate Hyder for many days, it have a cumulative effect making me lazy and drowsy. Maybe because I'm more sensitive to the anti-adrenergic effects of it. This effect can explain why some individuals report weight gain while using Ergoloids. Maybe with chronic use this side effect diminish. I don't know...

Today my Vyvanse dose was ineffective due Hydergine. It really reduces the increased heart rate and noradrenergic rush of amphetamine. I think I gonna drop Hyder for a while. I need adrenalin!

speaking from experience, taking amphetamine to deal with motivation issues is a bad idea and bad news for your mind and body.
plus you will almost certainly want or will one day have to stop taking it. you will be much happier if you fix your bad habits and find ways to motivate yourself.

plus you will almost certainly want or will one day have to stop taking it. you will be much happier if you fix your bad habits and find ways to motivate yourself.

Hey twelvesevndi,

After almost 8 months of therapeutic amphetamine use, I want to stop. The effects I get now is just "forced concentration", no euphoria, no motivation, no energy increase... Just shit zombie hyper-focus and anti-social behavior. Another problem is increased heart rate and mood imbalance. What do you recommend for withdrawal? Off course I will discuss this issue with my doctor. I just want to know your experience post amphetamine use. Thank you.
