A jury has acquitted a North Dakota surgeon accused of drugging and raping his wife on all counts.

The jury found 42-year-old Jon Norberg not guilty Wednesday of gross sexual imposition and reckless endangerment. He could have faced up to life in prison if convicted.

Alonna Norberg's attorney argued that Jon Norberg had sex with his unconscious wife after administering to her the anesthetic propofol -- the medication that gained notoriety during the trial of the doctor who treated pop star Michael Jackson. Jon Norberg contends that his wife made up the allegations to help in a looming divorce and child custody case.

I guess it's OK if you're raped by a doctor who is also your husband. 8(

A lot of details left out here. The victim had been diagnosed with somatization disorder, factitious disorder and a few other psychiatric diagnoses that called her credibility into question. That probably caused the jury to reasonably doubt the allegations.

What is "gross sexual imposition"? Is that a synonym for rape, or is it a lesser charge?

^ "gross sexual imposition" sounds worse than rape.... emphasis on "sounds"

maybe he was doing some super freaky stuff to her she would have never gone for while she was passed out???

Girl: We're not having sex tonight.
Surgeon: You think that?
Girl: My drink tastes salty----
*passes out*
Surgeon: Best part of marrying a girl is date raping her.

Marriage, not even once.
