Wat does it feel like and is it dangerous? Can a persn study on it? How frequent is the psychosis it causes and how rapidly does tolerance build?are seizures very frequent?

what does the combination of a benzo and ritalin feel like??

okay so i posted this in homeless threads because,um well the mobile site doesnt have a prefix option,so its hard to post.

i read they were contraindicated. also how frequent are the seizures with ritalin?what if it was taken with an anticonvulsant? does it really help study?
can it cause psychosis, how long and heavy does a person has to take for that to happen?
also :) (apologies) how fast does tolerance build up?

Yes, no paranoia/anxiety from the benzo + confidence, talkativeness and energy of eph. Great for interacting with others (especially if you're introverted otherwise).

But if you're looking for a study aid, I'm not that sure, benzos aren't exactly known for their great effects on memory.

So if i were to take ritalin,d u think it would be dangerous.i suffer from anxiety and and am addicted to an opiate and benzo

depends how much benzos you will snack on with ritalin, but in low doses (bnz), methylphenidate + benzo feels like a you have taken a benzo ontop of ritalin lol. in other words, the benzo will make the ritalin feel less shitty and anxious. i dont like ritalin that much, always felt so agitated and anxious on it. maybe adding a little klonopin or xanax will make the ritalin less sucky?

It's way too subjective to answer what methylphenidate and various benzodiazepines combined might feel like, so I'll probably end up closing this.

Methylphenidate tolerance builds very rapidly and whether it really helps one study can only be determined on an individual case by case basis.

Please feel free to use the search engine for more information about methylphenidate, we have a decade's worth of discussion just one search away.

I've taken adderall and a benzo before and it evens out the anxiety, paranoia, and anorexia. The "hyped up" feeling is lessened a lot but you still have about 80% of the focus. Personally, I would take the benzo an hour-2 hours after you dose. That way you experience all the good effects and none of the bad ones. The key is keep the benzo dose minimal or it will overpower the upper.

I edited the title and am going to move it to basic drug discussion instead of Other Drugs where you wanted it moved to. In the future you can just post your threads in the forums you want them in.

Ritalin is a stimulant that increases your focus, making you more alert and awake. It is designed for studying, so yes, you can study on it. Taking a benzo with it can make you less wired and dull the effects a little bit, but if you take a tiny dose before or at the same time as you take the Ritalin then it won't dull the effects too much.

A lot of people will take a very small dose of a benzo with the Ritalin, and save the rest of the dose for the end when to aid with the comedown.
Psychosis occurs when you stay awake for a few days on it, or if you are already prone to psychosis. Benzos will help with paranoia, and will help you fall asleep so that you aren't up for days from the Ritalin.

Tolerance builds fairly rapidly, especially if you re-dose, so it's best to take the Ritalin when you are ready to study, and get as much done during that time so that you don't need to keep taking more to get your work done. Taking it on consecutive days will really make your tolerance increase quickly, so it's best to take breaks between when you take it.

Seizures are only an issue if you are already prone to them, and if you take a very high dose, as they are the result of a stimulant overdose. If you take a normal therapeutic dose of Ritalin and are not prone to seizures then you should be fine.

What dose do you have, and is it instant release or extended release (a quick google search with the imprints of the pill will tell you this if you don't already know)?

Definitely understand what you're saying, Tri, and I am just going to share my experience with this combination and leave it at that.
Bbgirl, I have been taking prescribed methylphenidate ir and alprazolam for years. The latter is intended mainly for sleep and the occasional anxiety attack.
My rx for methylphenidate ir is 20mg 4x/day (although I pretty recently noticed that I've cut back to 2-3x/day for no particular reason) and alprazolam is 1.5mg/day as needed.
I take the methylphenidate every day upon awakening. IF I mix the two, it's due to anxiety that hits me after I have already taken methylphenidate and I have learned that it's best (for me at least) to dose low with the alprazolam. It'd make sense for one to assume that more might be needed if a stimulant is in the system, however I learned quickly that in my situation the opposite actually applies. I take about 1/4mg and this is just enough to get my anxiety under control while keeping the therapy from MPH intact.
When I have dosed higher on the benzo (even 1/2mg is too much most of the time) I feel the stimulant is sort of canceled out. In addition , I seem to only get the unwanted side effects from the alprazolam. I become completely lazy, very tired, and pretty much useless all the way around. ;) The relaxation I usually experience is diminished as well.
Just be careful and always start low. As I'm sure you realize, you can always take more of one or both of the drugs next time if need be...but if you take too much there's no going back.
Good luck!

I think if your looking to take the ritalin for focus and study. Then the benzo taken aswell will counteract the tension anxiety ect and leave you free to let the meth do its magic.Speaking from personel experience i do the same thing. good luck!! :-)

For the past few days I have needed some extra boost as well for work. I get anxious on most stimulants after awhile and I am very very sensative to them. I use half of 30mg of vyvanse (yes, very low dose) and take .25mg of klonopin and it usually a smooth high of working without the anxiety. These are extremely low doses of each though but 30mg of vyvanse sends me through the roof!

I think the combo is very nice if you can get the dose correct for your personal liking. It removes a lot of the side effects of the ritalin however you MUST get the dose correct or the benzo will cancel out the effect of the ritalin.

I find it easier to study when I take dexedrine and xanax (but also when I took ritalin, I'd take xanax too.) helps me with my anxiety and actually makes it easier for me to focus than with either on their own. Just my experience though.

Are u saying you can actually recall and remember stuff later with ritalin? Plus a benzo?? Doesnt a benzo make u forget?

Thanks. Why would royalin cause insomnia for days?its half life is inly 3 to 6 hrs right? I hav immediate relrase.i was planning to take 5mg in benzo witjrawal,so i could study plus recall, but it seems dangerous.what if i were to take an anticonvulsant plus ritalin only?

I have to take ritalin for adult risidual A D H D . I found that i felt sleepy for the first few dayz then slight headaches and anxiety which a none opiate painkiller could resolve if you have a issue with opiates. For the anxiety i would take diazepam. These effects will usally for most people diminish when your body adapts to the medication.I presumeyou have A D H D because if not i think we should be swaying you away from taking it because it dosen,t make sense. Also it infuriates people who have to take it who suffer from the condition sorry thats just the way i feel.Very odd!!
