I think it takes three days to break the addiction, doesn't it? Mind you that's foraged from my memory and was put in there before I acquired (limited) knowledge of how addiction actually works so file under Old Wives' Tales, but good work nevertheless, I need to do that too. Did you use any particular method or was it willpower / lack of funds / illness?
 
Hope it's three days! Just lack of funds plus being at the parental abode, they know I smoke but don't much approve of it. Also I threw the shirt I wore home into a pile on my bedroom floor, only to come back upstairs and realise it actually fucking stinks of stale smoke, so that put me off a bit. This place is like a show home and it smells of winter air and central heating so I felt sort of like I'd taken a massive shit in the corner of the room.

Ha ha ha! The clinging to clothes aspect of smoke is rank... jaysus, just remembered taking things out of cupboards some six months after stopping the first time and still catching a whiff and knowing that meant I hadn't worn something for a long time. That and finding hamster tampax in the pockets (ie filters).

Circumstances like that can be a great springboard for stopping. I did it over Christmas once as I was staying with a girlfriend whose parents were doctors and after the first day of waiting til they'd gone to bed after midnight so I could have the first snout of the day realised I was basically not smoking anyway and should follow through and just quit. Lasted three years!
 
thats only people over the age of 65 smoking, they should have included a group of young adult smokers in the study, and maybe some smoking teenagers to get a more useful picture.

It feels cool when you're a kid and less and less cool as you age. I certainly don't look cool in the garden in my dressing gown choking away first thing in the morning. Well, I do, because I always look cool, but I'd look cooler if I had two hands free to fire my AK47.

I've cut down to 4 or 5 lights a day and its getting to the point where im not even enjoying it anymore. smoking outside at this time of year is horrible aswell, which helps.
 
Yeah, then there's the morning cough as all the slime and sputum which has been sitting on the back of your lungs while you've been resting slithers down the sides as you become vertical... YUCK, I really don't like thinking about that.

Fuckin lol, love it :D Three years is a good run, most I've managed since I started smoking is eight months, quit the same day I quit drinking and started again when I started drinking on my birthday and thought 'fuckkkkkk I need a fag'.

Even after eight months, booze is still the liquid equivalent of your parents catching you smoking and forcing you to drain the entire pack.

Yeah so i'm a bit incapacitated for the next 10 days then i'll have my operation . After that about 7 days more . So to prevent stir crazy i'm gonna need some cheap free ? entertainment

I don't do consoles .
I have a pretty good attention span well for someone that has been signed off for 17 years i'm a pro .
Anyway looking for something to get in 2 that can bedone from my home ?

Go ahead their must be loads of you that waste hours for a living ;)
