So I I like weed but....

Your maths is a little off.

Do you mix weed with tobacco? I have noticed in people that do they confuse the addiction to nicotine with pot addiction.
this is true, the only reason i smoke nicotine is coz i smoke joints, then i get a craving for nicotine so i start to roll a cig, but theres no point smoking just nicotine so i add some hash mmmm

Chrisalt this happens to a friend of mine and he's smoked for years. He told me how when he's stopped smoking or doesn't have access to herb he won't be able to eat. I think now he mainly smokes bud when he can get it but for awhile he smoked those legal cannabinoid RC blends like spice, JWH, etc. and I think he alternates between the two.
The same thing happened to my son who smoked daily for little more than a year. He had no appetite at all unless he had weed. But after being in rehab after a few days, it came back. He's still not smoking and in his free time just eats and sleeps a lot. Typical teenager?

Yeah it fucks with your eating patterns bigtime. Not just a teenage thing I am afraid but it all sorts itself out after a week away from weed.

i agree with what youre saying. and i certainly know what psychological means... i was more directing it to the poster above my comment. his wording was just confusing.

i just meant psychological=in my head real=physical/physiological,
i didnt mean psychological is not real its just generally when discussing w/d symptoms i tend to put much more emphasis on the physical than the psychological cuz i am used to opiate w/d. the wording was wrong and confusing, my bad.

ok i just had to post this because i was out for two days and nearly lost my mind. the worst part though was not being able to regulate my temperature, hot cold flashes, sweats(stinky sweat too!), couldnt eat AT ALL and a general feeling of shit. this is starting to feel like a mild opiate w/d. anyway, i have welll...now about 4 and1/2 grms left and i am already asking my guy if he will put aside a half for me just so i wont worry.....this is not cool. i think i am going to cut down on the smoking for this reason and of course money but i cant be worrying about pot w/d in my life. it is what it is i guess, probly some psychological workings there but i think my brain has become chemically acclimated ,if you will, to it and actually goes through some kind of distress.

I definitely have physical withdrawal symptoms when I go without smoking marijuana for a couple of days. These symptoms are those that have been mentioned previously by others: loss of appetite, insomnia, irritability, and a general shitty feeling. ...which is why quitting has been so difficult for me. I'll make up my mind to quit smoking weed but am quick to change my mind again because I find life unsatisfying without it. Not just unsatisfying, but also mildly unbearable.

I've found that replacing weed with cigarettes does help to a certain extent, but I fear that I will become addicted to nicotine. I like smoking in itself, and cigarettes do help take the edge off with their slight buzz. It just doesn't hold up to be enough, though, and I always find myself running back to MJ with open arms.

ive never noticed anything... ive smoked for a full 4 or 5 months every day, multiple times a day. i stopped recently, no withdrawal symptoms at all that i noticed. i didnt have trouble sleeping, i didnt have anxiety, sweats, nothing. the urge to smoke was very slight, and it faded after the first 2 or 3 days. thats just me though.

theoretically, you should experience a physical withdrawal. withdrawal is the rebound effect and tends to be the opposite of the effects of the drug, no matter what the drug is. when your under the influence of something all the time, your body slowly changes in small ways to compensate for the foreign substance to bring you closer to baseline. this is tolerance. following abrupt cessation of said substance, these body changes are still present, but the substance is not. therefore you feel the 'opposite' effects of the drug. example: withdrawal from adderall for me consists mainly of me being cranky, very sleepy/tired, depressed, VERY hungry, and unmotivated to the extreme. this lasts perhaps 1 or 2 days, which is hell, but then it disappears. in conclusion, i would not be at all surprised if some people experience physical withdrawal symptoms, but i do not personally. everybody has different chemical composition, and any drug can produce a variety of effects in different people. there are countless factors involved.

I've been toking weed since 1969. No breaks...but I do have evenings when I just don't get around to it. I've never really had any problems when I miss a few days of THC input. The 1 thing I have noticed is 'reverse tolerance'. The longer I've smoked, the less I need for blast-off.
I remember back in the 1970s/80s, we'd toke weed all day. Either some excellent Mexican weed back then (Michoacan, Oaxacan, the infamous Acapulco Gold), or some Jamaican. Then the 1980s, killer Colombian Red or Gold Bud, Thai-Stick (had that in the 70s as well)...all those great imports.
Then when I hit about age 45, my tolerance level plummetted!! I can take 3-4 bong hits now & be ripped outta my skull. I love it!! Weed lasts me forever nowadays. I don't toke during the day anymore...I wait for around 8-9 p.m. before partaking & then just a few hits & I'm good. However, I do like to know that I have some stash...as it's like an evening cocktail for me. I can unwind from my day of retirement.
Does anyone else who's been toking for 40+ yrs find they need less weed to get stoned? I was just wondering if that's from all the THC that's built-up in my system...but I'm not complaining. Having to toke less weed is fine with me...& I've never heard of anyone mixing tobacco with reefer. Not in the USA anyway.

22 year smoker and I have seen a reverse tolerance too. Strange, but like you said, great for the pursestrings.

All those Central American strains you mention are as close to pure sativa as you can get, as well as the South American ones
although the THC is probably double for the latter...all said the "reds" & "golds" were still probably 15 percent THC at most.
and a lovely bag of pure sativa smoke is so much better than a close to 30 % THC cloned/hybrid mostly Indica stain anyday in my book. For whatever reason most people would choose an Indica over Sativa...I wish we could get together and smoke the "golds" and "reds" again.
Then we could compare them to all these super cloned hybrid Indicas, then you would know right away why you get "higher" if thats what you wanna call it.

"...if that's what you wanna call it"?? Yeah, that's what I'd call it. I don't need nearly as much smoke to get stoned nowadays than I did 20, 30, 40 yrs ago. Reverse tolerance is what I'd call it!!

No offense, but getting stoned & getting high are an opposite feeling to me...Sativa dominants are the only strains that get me "high"
Plus the TCH levels have at least doubled in the last 40 years

My point for this thread is to ask all of you if you have ever become addicted physically to weed?

i wouldnt go so far as to say addicted, but after over 10 years smoking heavy i would definitely say i feel a dependency to it.. any time ive taken breaks for the first week or so i feel very lethargic during the day and real insomniac at night, boredom is such a trigger, best thing you can do is taper down, less and less frequent until you feel comfortable enough to quit, sux

Happy to see that in BC there is a big movement among the local growers towards cultivating awesome sativas and away from the couch lock type indicas.

tl:dr, (re-read some)
i smoke spliff (tobacco and cannabis) only, and am in the USA, PNW
its not the norm, but there are circles of spliff smokers, more or less in the reggae-hippie circles.

when i stop smoking for acouple days, cold sweats, 2 hours sleep cycles, lack of appetite.
