Oral Morphine dose for an opioid naive person?

I've only had opioids a few times, and I have a couple 30mg Morphine SR pills. On my previous occasions I found 20mg oral hydrocodone fine. According to the conversion chart this would be equal to 30mg hydrocodone, would my lack of tolerance be okay with 30mg (I'll be crushing them)? Or should I take it as SR? Or can I snort it?

I wouldn't suggest snorting it, not sure which brand you have but the inactives are probably not good for snorting or may decrease absorption. If you are going to crush it and take it orally I would start with half a pill. Different people are affected by different opioids differently so you can't know in advance if oral morphine will be roughly equal in potency to oral hydrocodone for you. You can always take more if it's not enough, but if you take too much you could be having an unpleasant time, (and you don't yet know how prone to side effects like nausea you will be either). I don't think 30mg should put a normal healthy adult at risk for a fatal overdose though, assuming you aren't taking any other drugs.
