Which leads me back to my original conflict in how I should feel about women who choose to be in porn.
They are paid workers like anyone else. Some may even feel empowered by the kind of work that they do. I think focusing on the actresses is not as relevant as focusing on the product that they are helping to produce. Those actresses could be used for material that portrays them as equals to the men fucking them, but often this is not the case.
Porn sex occurs in the real world... and I could see how some of it could be sexy, that's why it exists.
You think porn sex exists in the real world? I don't. It's just a fantasy. In the real world people have more dynamic and complete interactions leading up to, and during, their sexual encounters. Sex does not exist in a vacuum like it does in porn. People are not just sex objects.
I don't care if two people are having consentual, adult sex on equal terms, even if they equitably decide that one wants to be tied up and the other dominate them. What would bother me is if men were seeking unequal sexual encounters based on dominance and power in disregard for the experience and welfare of their partner, based on a lifetime of viewing porn. Women are complete human beings.
For the record, I think porn also degrades men. It portrays them as incapable of being nurturing, loving, and compassionate beings. It also makes it seem impossible for a man to be submissive most of the time, and that men are constantly looking to deprave, objectify, and have sex 24/7. It's just stooped up to its eyeballs in stereotypes and hypocrisy. Men are
also complete human beings.
I say all this as someone who watches porn, but I am highly selective of what I watch. Most porn is, frankly, quite disgusting.
