Film What's the Last Film You Saw? v. Tell Us What You Thought!

I liked it for what you said plus: the old Bond Astin Martin and the general gritty & dark nature of most of the film. And additionally....

"I don't believe we have have been formally introduced."

"...My name is Eve, Eve Moneypenny." :D

One last thought: Ralph Fiennes as the new M, awesome!

i really liked that it was about the job, not so much about the bond, you know? about his relationship with M, his age and even with his villain, who was also about the job. i think my favourite scene in the whole movie (maybe) was:

[spoil]the killing of that guy from turkey in shanghai, in the glass box skyscraper, with all the weird lights reflecting off the glass. breathtakingly beautiful and really amazing cinematography.[/spoil]

one criticism i've heard and understand is : too much batman. too much of the joker in mr. silva, etc. i didn't personally think so, but whatever.

end of watch. i expected a cheesy action movie. which it isn't at all. i was positively suprised at how funny it was in parts. definitely recommended.

^ Excellent flick. Faye was so so so attractive.

Oh yeah, and the acting was great as well. :)

i just watched fat kids rule the world; fucking awesome movie, especially if you like the power of music. Definitely watch it.

It's about a kid who is about to commit suicide and gets saved and is basically reborn with the power of music

The Amazing Spiderman - 2/10

Just fucking awful. Not a single thing was done right in this movie.

1) Andrew Garfield is a terrible Peter Parker.

2) Emma Watson's character serves literally no other purpose in this movie besides giving Garfield a boner.

3) The editing is horrendous. I don't know if it was just the version I watched (ordered On-Demand), but there were at least two instances I remember of some amateur-level editing bloopers. The first was the part where Spiderman confronts the guy who killed Ben - during one of Spidey's taunts, the scene cuts suddenly (the frame doesn't change) and he's standing in a different position. And just before Lizard pops up in the highschool toilets, he says something along the lines of "You'll not ruin my plans, Peter Parker!" but his lips don't move...and the camera was even zoomed in on his face!

4) I heard that the soundtrack was supposed to be awesome....no. In fact, it was downright awkward at times, like the scene where Peter is playing around with his powers in the warehouse set to a melancholy folk song.

5) This is hands-down the most predictable movie I've ever seen. You see every action come from a mile away because the characters are just mindless stereotypes.

Fuck, man. I paid 5 bucks for this trash. That's what I get for being a good guy and not pirating it - never again.

iron sky

i can see how they got away with all that nonsense by making it a comedy, too bad it wasn't ever funny.
1.5/5

The Disappearance of Alice Creed - 4/5

Very entertaining. A kidnapping thriller. The recommendation read, "good twists ... will keep you changing who you're rooting for."

Well, it was half right. It had plenty of interesting twists. However, considering I almost always root for the bad guys . . . . without giving anything away, I still rooted for them the whole time. Fuck Alice Creed.

Some drunk idiot in a pub told me to watch John Cassavettes. I could not have anticipated how much I'd love him, as a director. Tonight, while coming down from meth, while drinking single malt whiskey, while smoking high grade weed, while injecting k dregs, while rubbing old coke in my nostrils. I watched five hours of JC.

First, The Killing of a Chinese Bookie.

This is my review: take Reservoir Dogs, add Taxi Driver and remove all the bullshit.

Then I watched A Woman Under the Influence.

This is my review: requiem for the mother, rather than the junky... without all the bullshit.

Bookie (4.5/5)
Woman (5/5)

Love love love Cassavettes.

Neither pic shows for me so I'm just going to assume what movie it is.

Boy what an ending! It dragged a little bit in the middle, but overall great movie. Great performances by everyone and just awesome editing and directing. Man I couldn't believe when that thing happened. Was not expecting that at all.

--------------------

Last 2 movies I saw were movies that I was re-watching because I couldn't remember them or didn't understand them the first time around. I saw Ali (2001) and The Breakfast Club (1985). The Breakfast Club was fun to watch again since I had only seen it once and that was before high school. It was fun to see it now that I'm several years out of high school. Plus there were a number of scenes that were parodied on other TV shows, which made the movie a bit funnier.

For Ali I have no idea how anyone could have understood that movie if they didn't know about Malcolm X, the Nation of Islam, and Elijah Mohammed. A good bit of material would have gone over their heads as the movie did a horrible job of adding any context to what was going on and what was being referenced to. The only reason I felt like I knew was going on was because I read Malcolm X's autobiography a year ago (highly, highly recommend that book). I don't know all that much about Ali, but I thought Will Smith did a good job in his portrayal of him.
