Gambling Thread (No flames plz)

Very risky too, one bad streak and you can be bankrupt.

I watched an episode of Secret Millionaire and it was British poker pro Andrew Feldman that was on it. He went undercover at an addiction clinic as he's suffered with gambling addiction all his life, at age 18 he had hundreds of thousands in the bank from poker and lost every single penny on a bad night then built back up over a few years and has a few million again but he's still addicted to gambling / poker and doesn't know when to quit. He says he loves and hates poker in equal amounts and it doesn't actually make him happy, wants to quit and never play again. Interesting watch, might be worth a look.

Very nice win Mugz. I only play mirco stakes as i haven't been playing poker that long, and im trying to build a bankroll up from pretty much nothing. Not really suceeding so far, about break even. My stars username is the same one i use on here

Talking about Andrew Feldman just read this article, apparently he borrowed 25k off a fellow player and is refusing to pay him back as he's quitting poker.

yeah he is a pure douche TheSpade, i watched the episode out of enjoyment more than anything, he is such a bad player too! he bumhunts like hell, fair enough he has made alot of money but i really think he went on there to try get good publicity, fair play to the guy for giving them that amount, i wouldnt if i had his cash, but he isn't as baller as he makes out on the programme, he has scammed a fair few people even his own mate sam tricket he supposedly owes $25k to, i mean fine quit poker but make sure you pay the guys you owe!

oh and just for enjoyments sake :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6fbGSrdBOM around 14.30 , i cant believe a millionaire would cry over that much ? :/

He comes across as a twat in that video not because of the crying but because of the shouting about water and the way he acted when he was waiting on cards to get dealt. The article I linked to was about him borrowing the $25k from Sam Trinket then saying he wasn't paying it back. I think he must have issues, maybe got a load of debt or something.

Yeah possibly lost all his cash would explain him 'borrowing' money and not paying it back and the way he acted there.

yeh mate i didnt even look at the link at the time because i thought it was the tricket issue, i mean yeh they are the main reasons why i really hate him, he is always like that at the tables, comes across as really stuck up. Maybe he is just not very empathogenic, maybe he needs some ecstasy therapy ;) .. but yeh going abit off topic there. He definitely has issues, him giving that £125,000 away was very stupid if he did owe alot of debts out and stuff.

He also made it out like all poker players are scammers/ cheats ect, which made us guys look bad, i know alot of very trustworthy guys in the poker world, but i think when large amounts of money are being crossed over you seem to notice who are the most trustworthy and who are not, i did suffer a real bad addiction back a few months ago, spending hours/days trying to win it back, so i can sort of relate, but i would never steal money from people, i would rather die than steal from someone! For anyone that thinks poker can be fun, it is fun, but its a dark world out there, and the hours you spend away from your friends/family loved ones definietely affect you as a person. i really wanna travel the world next year spade, i know you did a bit of travelling, what were the main benefits you gained from your travels? apart from the differences in culture ect.

answers much appreciated

I just got back 6 weeks ago from another 5 month jaunt in Asia mate. Do it. You can play poker from anywhere in the world, just take a netbook with you.

What benefits do you expect to get from travelling? I do it because it's great fun. I do what I want all day, see and do loads of amazing things, experience new cultures, meet new people and party as often as I like. I don't believe in all this 'finding yourself' nonsense, hippy bullshit that means nothing.

I made a couple of bets (not sure if that's the correct term, but in my mind i was either 'betting' on prices going up or down.) and sort of got nervous and gave up :\ ended up withdrawing 87quid so lost 13. I do have the 100 they credited left to play with which needs to be rolled over so many times.

To be honest I was perhaps a little rash in depositing... I had drunk a few ciders. In the cold light of day it seemed too unpredictable and I thought I could actually use 100quid to buy some clothes or sommit.

Cheers for your input by the way, possibly helped in my decision not to potentially blow all my cash.

Back to the drawing board I guess. Really would like to make some easy money again :|

Gambling really fucked this month up for me, amongst other things but it was the intense gambling in the first three days taht started it. losing around or about £600-£700 when I have no money was not the way to go. Gambling is off the table for my future. I have to admit I have a control problem when it comes to gamabling.

You have a control problem. Full stop. ;)

£700 down the drain, sickening innit? Ban yourself from the casinos.

My bets for the races at Exeter tomorrow...

14.00 Just A Par
14.30 Melodic Rendezvous
15.00 Cappa Bleu
15.30 Simply Wines
16.00 Dare Me
16.30 Pure Oxygen
17.00 Carlton Jack

(these are not my choices, i know nothing about horseracing, but have a mate who is a pretty successful, cautious gambler, he gave me these tips)

brimz?
