quick background i got sick and couldnt train for a year after lifting consistently for a whole year. i just got back into the gym in august and im finally seeing good gains in size and strength now that i know how to train, eat right and im finally hitting legs too...in terms of weight im heavier but i can visible tell the fat on my body is going away but for some reason pants that fit me when i was fatter dont fit me now that im "bulkier" but have less body fat. my guess is that my waist and or thighs are getting bigger do to hitting legs. basically i just want to know why i suddenly need a bigger waist size in pants even though im losing body fat

Not sure if this helps. I just got back into training after an injury. One of the first things I find is that my pants get tighter and I belt buckle looser. Your butt muscles get bigger and hips and I think that causes the waist to get get bigger in that area requiring extra buckles - that's how it happens to me.

makes sense, guess i have to buy new clothes :/

Your waist doesn't get bigger if your body fat is staying the same. Your legs will. I bought some slim fit jeans a year ago that look goofy as fuck now that I can squat a decent amount, but they still fit the same (or slightly looser) around my waist. The hard part is getting them up to my waist.

yeah thats exactly my situation, the waist is fine but my thighs make it look like im wearing womens jeans haha

Yeah man, I've been breaking out my old jeans from like 05-06 when I was on that baggy shit. That slim fit shit doesn't work when you have even a little bit of muscle.

luckily for me I've always been a fan of the baggy pants as it goes with my style. shirts are getting tight. finally found "my routine" for proper muscle growth and strength and been getting bigger every week. my dads like "damn sero you're getting a lot bigger, I'm proud of you". he tapes me every other week so I can see how things are progressing. for a 5' 6" guy who used to rock medium shirts, I tore one of em last week in the back when I reached down to tie my shoes. time to buy large shirts lol

thats awesome...see my shirt size is actually going down but my pants size is going up.. confusing because they've always gone down or up together
