Man Sentenced for Stealing Lobsters for Drug Habit

A Pennsylvania man could spend up to 25 years in prison for stealing lobsters he planned to sell to support his drug habit.

Authorities say 47-year-old Charles Shumanis III repeatedly stole lobsters and meat from Allentown-area supermarkets, including a botched March 1 theft that included a parking lot car-jacking.

Police say Shumanis stole meat and lobsters on two other occasions before he was confronted when he walked out of the store with $350 in lobsters.

Oh, I know a homeless guy in my neighborhood who does just that, shoplift the priciest meat in supermarkets and resell it to restaurant owners. He used to work in bakeries and restaurants so he knows a few owners.

I just hope that guy didn't steal live lobsters.

It's one thing to steal if you're hungry. It's another thing to steal hundreds of dollars worth of food, exclusively to fund a drug habit, as well as carjacking someone. The latter of which is what he really should serve time for IMO.
