Good luck man, wish you all the best. Where are you Ireland? Right? Are the laws really strict around those parts? I hope you don't get a custodial sentence.

RE: the NA stuff, just make sure you don't replace one addiction with another..

It's not just the strange religious stuff which seems to be embedded in these programmes, it's also the fact that if you're not ready to embrace a change in your life and get rid of old habits, loosing your connections and associates that use heavily then there's not really much point in going to a meeting to talk about change 'cos at the end of the day it's just talk. Have seen a couple of people go to NA meetings only for those meetings to suddenly become such a major part of their lives they forget how to have any life outside of the social interactions of the NA circle.

Let's not assume Urbain gives it that on the phone cause that's daft. I imagine as good service goes it's just about solving the problem, and not being all computer says no about it. Lots of CS people dont give a fuck, have the wrong attitude and cant be bothered to problem solve or go out of the script and actually try to think about alt ways of helping if it becomes necessary.

While Urbain is possibly Mr Amazon, I doubt he'll be all howdy doody on the blower

I've had to deal with some faulty returns to amazon before and I gotta say they had excellent phone service and no quibble about refunding me. The was no fluff on the phone either ..

It's pretty ludicrous that because I mentioned I enjoy my job, and helping sort peoples stuff out, that I MUST be a ''call centre monkey'', or any other ridiculous assumption, that I've heard banded around here so much.

It sucks that some of you have had shitty experiences in call centres, some have worked for sales, and have been made to play games, and some of you are just complete arseholes, (hai Spade!), who have landed in the wrong job suited to your personality, but that doesn't mean that your experiences match mine. Literally everything you've assumed is so far off from my reality, its backwards. I wasn't asked what my job was like, you all weighed in with your own shitty experiences and assumptions that I must be the same as you.

To be honest, it's pretty upsetting to slate ones job, or personality by way of using far reached assumptions, that are purely based only on your own experiences.

I avoided AA for this very reason, there are other support services and groups available if NA doesn't float your boat. Your local addiction service, mine is Addaction should be able to point you in the right direction.

I'm not condemning NA or AA but there is an undeniable religious angle that may not be for all.

Same here. It's not the 'religion' element so much as the way it's employed - basically the insistence on submitting to a 'higher power' (as I believe they like to refer to it) is low-level mind control designed to bring the addict round to believing the programme is their only way out. Essentially the addict is trained to feel disempowered.

It may work for some (many, even) to whatever extent, though in many cases it's not only off-putting but in the long run it can actually be counter-productive.

Though I suppose it goes some way to explaining why every other 'reformed' alkie seems to be a born-again Christian.

Good luck though, BCF - everybody's with you. :)

How did the 25i go? I have given it a rest for a few days and had a dose again today and feeling it a bit again. The mood elevation is nice.

This is what happened last time I tried to mention finding some slight enjoyment from a telesales job, it really touches a nerve with some here not sure why.

I tend to think, if I'm going to be doing something for eight hours a day I might as well try and find some sort of enjoyment or stimulation from it. Its like if I was stuck in prison with just a rubber ball to play with I'd makea game out of it or something to pass the time, same principle.

And good luck breakcorefiend!

Urbain, you work in a call centre therefore you are a call centre monkey. You were being slated because you posted what looked like a copy & paste straight from the company's brainwash the dafties handbook.

Good luck man! Don't wanna put the shits up you but I've been in court in Waterford before for drug possession & Judge Hartnett seems to have a real disliking for "drug users". He made me donate €700 to Merchant's Quay Clinic in Dublin & go on a 1 day visit of said clinic.... for an 1/8th of hash! He pretty much said in court that people like me, who buy drugs, fund the criminal gangs in Dublin who commit murders!!! (the hash I had wasn't even soapbar. it was maroc polm.)
He's an old-timer with old-fashioned Irish opinions. Just to let u know what type of judge you may be standing in front of!
You're solicitor probably knows him anyway so might know what to expect. A year's probation with random drug testing is not beyond the bounds of possibility.

Awwww diddums, did you get upset because some people laughed at you repeating your companies customer service policy word for word? You're more brainwashed than I realised. :D
