Texas Woman Jailed for Outing Narc on Facebook

Never heard of clear and present danger?

I guess you have never heard of imminent lawless action either.

It was certainly not "a direct call to commit immediate lawless action".

Also, in 2003 Robert Novak outed Valerie Plame as a CIA agent in the Washington Post. More specific to "danger", Spike Lee recently attempted to publish George Zimmerman's address on Twitter. TMZ recently posted photos of a hidden Casey Anthony in Colombus, OH.

This wouldn't even be an issue if the cop hadn't had a Facebook page under his real identity! That was pretty dumb.

further rationale for the applicability of the 1st amendment here:

Sanford judge: Florida law does not prohibit a driver from flashing headlights
November 8, 2011

A judge in Seminole County Tuesday ruled that it's perfectly legal for people to flash their headlights to warn other motorists of a speed trap ahead.

The ruling, by Circuit Judge Alan Dickey, is a partial win for a 25-year-old Lake Mary man who was ticketed last year.

Ryan Kintner sued Seminole County Sheriff Don Eslinger in August, asking the judge to ban the agency from writing any more of those tickets and to award him unspecified damages.

Every time a deputy writes one of those tickets, according to Kintner and his lawyer, J. Marc Jones of Oviedo, they're violating a driver's right to free speech.

well, we know she discovered his identity by her friend discussing his testimony against her in court.

was it a closed court-room? and what are the laws regarding discussing those/anyone in attendance to a closed-court-hearing?

if the guy is discussing his work, in a public court-room, then is he fair game?

Shit like this just proves that the cops are the biggest, most organized and sophisticated gang in the world.

I thought telling the truth was supposed to set you free, not put you in jail...?

Well we know she wasn't just telling the truth.

This is the saddest case going right now. I can't think of anything more important to American citizens than finding and outing narcs, and here it's becoming illegal.

Nothing more important?

I don't see any question that what she did should be protected by the First Amendment.

Liberty, as in her right to expression.

yeah narcs are lame but dont put that shit on facebook. Just another retard from Texas who doesnt think of the consequences of their actions.

I agree that facebook is monitored by the law to a great extent but are you for or against this client?

I hope the ACLU steps up and defends her this is such an important case.

Agreed.

She didn't make him become an undercover narcotics officer, which in itself, is a job where you put yourself in harm's way.

She might have saved his life; he won't be an undercover narcotics officer anymore. What if he kept working, and one day gets shot and killed as a result of his work?

And yet this danger couldn't have been in the job description.

Why speculate?

Shit like this just proves that the cops are the biggest, most organized and sophisticated gang in the world.

Perhaps this is very true.
