Opioids Do any psychiatrist prescribe tramadol as a anti depressant?

Do any psychiatrist prescribe tramadol as a anti depressant? Also i do have chronic pain issues.

Not in the USA, and since tramadol is considered an opiate by the FDA and the DEA, they would be in trouble for prescribing tramadol for off label use and most psychiatrists do not prescribe any opiate type medicine even if they want to, it is frowned on by the DEA. Even though they have an M.D. like all doctors,they are basiclly not allowed to prescribe pain meds for any reason, at least opiate type meds, some will prescribe Soma or Fioricet(without the codeine).
 
i doubt it. they'd most likely just give you an SNRI. if you've been through most of the antidepressants, you're more likely to get amphetamine or methylphenidate than tramadol. IMO both drugs are better than tramadol anyway and work better for depression, so no complaints from me
