What's wrong with that term if it ain't directed at another Bler it had me laughing tbh. I ain't heard it for yonks i like knobjockey i often use that term when with mates .

Exactly. Mates who know you're not a homophobe, presumably? There's a big difference.

We've been through this before; not you and I personally, but the whole forum. You might find it funny, lots of people don't.

I know several gay blokes who'd happily hospitalise somebody they didn't know for calling them a 'sausage jockey', and maybe a few who'd laugh it off. Let's not forget it's essentially a derogatory term, whether it's intended to be or not.

If that had been posted anywhere else on Bluelight then it would've led to a warning / infraction. On this occasion (and on this particular forum) it didn't. That speaks volumes.

Can we just leave it there, perhaps?

No, 'bummer' is too childish to be considered offensive by all but the most uptight person. Hence the lack of comment.

If someone called me or a friend a 'bummer' and seriously meant it I'd probably have to suppress the laughter before glassing them. If they said 'sausage jockey' it'd be a straight glassing. No laughter. Except maybe after the glassing.

Are we clear?

samhain: i like you, think your pretty smart and dont want to argue for the sake of it. but twice youve mentioned glassing people for saying something you particularly find offensive. you kinda lose the high ground when using bullying tactics to enforce an anti-bigotry point (bullying in that you sound like you can take care of yourself)


just like in school, some of my friends would fly off the handle if someone called their mom a whore or w/e. i however knew my mom was nowhere near anything as exciting as that, thus the insult meant less than nothing to me. i agree that silence/non violence is not the answer to all bigotry related incidents.. but we have discrimination laws now, and i cant truly believe a guy of your wit would seriously consider the jockey ref a full on, conciously hate-filled insult. perhaps i am in ignorance? (i am not gay and have no gay friends that i know about at least)

It's called hyperbole.

I'm not really going to glass anybody. Not in a million years. I like glass far too much.
