Cheers for the link. Few observations.
Why did they dose 83mG I wonder why? I am wondering if this was 83mG of MDMA Molecule and as a result 99-100mG of MDMA HCL??
I also wonder why the dose wasnt based on body mass for each person? Some of the subjects were clearly bigger than others.
The Medical MDMA HCL they administered I notice everyone was gurning on it. I wonder if this is a symptom of 100% pure MDMA HCL? I wonder how they synthed it?
They claim MDMA wouldnt exist without the Marie Paru Farom tree found only in South East Asia. Claiming the bark and fruit contain the safrol?? WTF is this? Why is this the only suggested safrol source? I have never heard of fruit containing safrol before. This seems VERY poor research.
They claim safrol is treated with an acid then an ordinary chemical found in household cleaning products you get MDMA. If only it were this simple. Sorry but the research here is EXTREMELY POOR.
When questioned on the program Professor Nutt claims that 83mG is equiviliant of two MDMA tablets. I have to say I feel this is an awful under estimation. I wish he had have simply said I dont know rather than making this awful speculation.
David Nutt when questioned is asked can MDMA cause any long lasting damage. He claims that the evidence thus far is pretty speculative and he does not think it causes any damage to the serotonin network. Sorry but I TOTALLY DISAGREE WITH THIS. He mentions nothing about dose. Nothing about drug history. I am sorry this is MDMA propaganda promotion at its finest.
There is user after user on here with clear cognotive problems from MDMA. I cannot understand how he has reached this conclusion. He claims with an overview of the literature it does not produce any enduring changes in serotonin. WTF???
The woman sat next to him Professor Val Curran also involved in the trial claims that there might be damage whilst taking it but the brain recovers quite rapidly. I am sorry this in my opinion without knowing dose etc is total BS.
Onto the guy we thought was going to be a bit of a tool for disagreeing with their studies..
Andy Parrott a Professor of Psychopharmacology makes some valid points about why MDMA can be damaging to the body. He makes points about overall body regulation and also points out the possibility of raised Cortisol. He mentions issues with anxiety, memory, cognotive problems to name a few.
When cross examined Val Curran falls back into a corner and starts spewing crap about how alcohol is more harmful. I am sorry but I find this kind of important study in the hands of people that defend their studies in this way as just total bozos.
Part one of this program I feel is in the hands of people who are pro ecstasy and give no decent argument to say why it is safe.
The program is clearly in the hands of journalists who have little knowledge about this topic as they think without a Marie Paru Farom tree MDMA wont exist and they also think mix acid with a household cleaning product you get MDMA.
The scientists in charge of the study David Nutt and Val Curran think MDMA is not harmful and claim the scientific literature thus claiming otherwise is bunk.. They underlying argument seems to be fueled on a counter argument that alcohol is more harmful thus MDMA is safe.
Sorry part one of this program is laden with miss informed crap. What worries me is young people will watch this and think MDMA is safe.
No mention of dosing. No mention of testing. Very little HR advice.
Part one of this program truly sucks...
Lets see what materialises in part 2.
I am interested to know what other members think?
