Computer duster

So Ive read some info about getting high from computer duster and in all honesty it sounds like a bad idea. One website was full of posts regarding people dropping dead from it. Is this all propaganda? Could anyone comment on the REAL dangers of using this substance in moderation?

There are zero positive things about computer duster. Ever watch that Intervention show where the chick was doing it everyday? You could potentially get brain damage from just doing it once, but if you keep doing it you probably will.

Stick to nitrous.
 
There are no positives because it doesn't get you high it just deprives you of oxygen and the negatives are brain damage and death. I don't condone it but you are safer off shooting heroin than doing duster.

I wouldn't even consider nitrous an inhalant since the effects you get are actually from the drug not oxygen deprivation like with duster.

I dont think its just deprivation - the chemicals in that shit fuck you up somehow too. I binged on it pretty bad one time, and was having full on hallucinations (not like visuals, but something along the lines of taking diphenhydramine) - talking to people in my room with me (that really werent there) - at one point, I though a 2 year old baby had crawled up on my pillow, and dropped a lit marijuana roach down my back - I felt the burn and freaked out trying to find it on my bed.

Never again (not because of that but other reasons), shit almost killed me. Its extremely compulsive and mentally addictive for some reason.. I would suggest staying away from it, and just get some nitrous. much much better/more fun.
 
It can freeze your lungs if you spray the shit directly in your mouth or get too fucked up and hit the bottle upside down. can cause hella freezer burn if you end up too fucked up, my friend sat on a bottle to hide it once and ended up forgetting and needing a skin graft. the shit is poisonous and will inevitably make you sick as fuck if you do too much at once, which you almost certainly will cuz it makes you wanna do more REALLY bad and you're also half retarded when making this decision. takes like the worst shit ever that nothing can get out of your mouth for up to 30 minutes if you fuck up. it's heavier than air so some of it just sits in your lungs for a while. also ever heard of sudden sniffing death syndrome or whatever??

Computer duster contains (usually) 1,1, difluoroethane as an "active ingredient". Simple halocarbons like it and chloroethane are known intoxicants but the problem is that they're reactive chemicals and don't metabolise into very friendly things. In addition it has been found that most fluoroalkane inhalants sensitize the heart muscle to e.g. adrenaline; so that risk of cardiac failure is very high.

As mentioned above it can come out of the can freezing cold (-20C) and cause burns etc, and is heavier than air. Even pickling your brain in grain alcohol is safer and probably more fun. Save the duster for blowing things out of keyboards.

* Chloroethane used to be used in anesthetia under the name 'ethyl chloride'. Was removed from use because just about every anesthetic agent is better and carries less risk of sudden death.
 
I don't see how this could be considered psychedelic, but what do I know.

Stick with nitrous or ether, sekio said it better than any of us ever could.

I believe consensus says its a bad idea, but inhaling duster does drop your voice down about 8 octaves. It's kind of funny, I think Ween might have used this on a recording...
 
I've done both, and nitrous doesn't drop your voice to a deep bass like duster does, IME. I respectfully disagree, Dmytry. Fuck...I'm totally advocating huffing computer duster for shits and giggles. Harm reduction indeed. Its not worth it though.

well it may not make your voice AS low, but the fundamental frequency of your voice is going to be lower in nitrous oxide than air because sound propogates more slowly through nitrous oxide than air.
this is somewhat counter intuitive because i would think that cold, compressed NO2 would more dense than air, but thems the facts afaik and the speed of sound is not determined simply by density. and it certainly has been my experience that my voice goes lower.

there's really no reason to do inhalants period.

who cant get their hands on nitrous? its the propellant in certain food items, and its food grade. not like that automotive shit with sulfer dioxide

computer duster is fucking disguting, please dont do this, honestly it is just a horrible idea and if you are unfortunate enough to try it you will see why, from what I've heard all it does is make you pass the fuck out and get really light headed, and have a headache afterwards and kill a whole load of brain cells. sounds like a really shitty day and a REALLY shitty 'drug' (i don't even think its worthy to be called a drug)
