Hi newbie here, Me and two friends are looking to take some mushrooms in the next few weeks, Weve had LSD and enjoyed it very much so, But i dont want to go picking mushrooms in the wild as i dont want to take the risk, Iv'e found a site with some truffles on but i dont know much about mushrooms and wanted to know some opinions whether these would be any good.

Is the effect of truffles similar to mushrooms
Also how many grams would we be looking at taking for a good trip, around 10grams? also these truffles iv'e linked dont have nuts in do they as my friend has a nut allergy 8(

<link removed - Sorry, you can't post links to sites that sell drugs. Here is the info from the site though: These are promoted as "Magic Truffles" and "Psilocybe Hollandia". Ingredients are not listed, nor are dosages etc.>

Thanks.

hey, you've posted this in the wrong section. it should be in psychedelic discussion. also you should remove that link as it goes straight to sources of mushrooms - the rule is no listing of sources of such items.

i've reported the thread so hopefully a mod will be around shortly to move it into PD.

By "truffles" they mean "the fruiting body of a subterranean mushroom", not a "truffle" like a chocolate truffle, so in theory they shouldn't contain nuts or anything other than the mushroom. They are basically like a type of mushroom that is found in the soil or leaf litter, as opposed to normal mushrooms that have a stalk and cap. These "psilocybe hollandia" are supposed to contain psilocybin, the same active ingredient found in most "magic mushrooms". I have read the dosage listed as 5-8 grams for a "normal" trip, or 8-15 grams for an extremely strong trip for very experienced users.

Make sure you do a bit of research on the effects of mushrooms first, although in some ways the experience is similar to LSD in a lot of ways the content of the experience is very different and can be very unpredictable, I would start off with a low dose to get the feel of them before launching in to deep water.

I prefer mushrooms to LSD but you need to have your act together with them or they can bite you in the ass.

Actually "magic truffles" are the Sclerotia of some species of psilocybin/psilocin containing mushrooms (often Psilocybe Mexicana or Psilocybe Tampanensis).

Embrangle he explained Sclerotia just fine... At least when it comes to talking about psilocybe sclerotia bodies as they usually grow throughout the substrate or underneath the soil if I am not mistaken. They usually are hard nut shaped fungal bodies that are meant to withstand harsh environments unlike regular fungal that grow to spread spores only to die right after. If I am not mistaken... I honestly do not know really though. I do know the idea of nuts are brought up as they have a nutty taste as well as a hard nut like body.

Also prepare for a more physical trip than LSD, which is more mental. There will be a mental aspect, but mushrooms are more likely to cause sensory distortion as the active compound messes with your sense of self, time, and space. Literally your legs may feel like your arm... It is impossible to describe. Just go into it with an open mind and go with the flow, which is easier said than done. If you go with the flow you will enjoy it. I also recommend dosing indoors and waiting for the effect to come on and than venturing outdoors if you feel up to it. Mushrooms come up very suddenly and in my opinion really bring on a couch lock feeling, which may be overwhelming noticing for the first time outside if you are in public or far away for an environment where you are comfortable to lay down. Truffles are supposed to be more gentle from what I have read, but still very powerful.

The good thing about mushrooms is you can start small and just keep eating them through the trip to gently reach the right effect. Enjoy your journey, trust the fungal, and trust yourself than you will be all good :D Have fun!

I think Embrangle was trying to say that "magic truffles" are not necessarily "true" truffles in that they may not be a fruiting subterranean mushroom body but a food-storing subterranean mushroom body. Correct?

However that Wikipedia page Embrangle linked to is talking about fungi sclerotia that grow on grains, not mushroom sclerotia. Truffles = mushroom sclerotia = hardened subterranean mushroom body (mycellium). I was just trying to explain that they are not the other kind of "truffles", chocolate truffles - they are mushrooms. Assuming the specific type of "magic truffles" the OP was talking about are what they are supposed to be (one can never be 100% positive when buying from a random website) they are psilocybe hollandia and would not contain nuts or anything other than the mushroom.
