methadone and xanax

Alright, last night i took half of a 10mg methadone at 8:30pm and the other half around 9pm i also already had 1.25mg of xanax in my body.

I have a really big tolerance to opiates, for example (not dick sizing) i can take 140mg of hydrocodone, 100mg of oxycodone, plug 100mg morphines or 2 fat bags or good dope and be good.

I was wondering, i took 30mg of methadone at 7:45 this morning so the other 10mg is still in my system right? Would i be able to take my last 1.25 mg of xanax? I do have a tolerance to benzos was prescribed ambien for a year used to do about 75mg a day . My weight is 145.

Im.just worried about if this would be leathal or not with my tolerances? Can anyone help me out?
 
I think you would be fine, )im not a dr i just play one on BL) evethough methadone lasts really long, you have an opi and benzo tolerance. it would be diff if you were asking if you could take it all together but id say enough time has passed for you to be ok. if you already feel where you wanna be, no sense in pushing higher, just enjoy it, but if you feel you can handle it, its your call. HR is the point. KNow your limit.
 
NEVER take methadone and xanax sooner than 72 hrs after one or the other was taken. It will KILL you! I had five friends who either took them together or within 3 days and they are dead! Choose one but please dont mix these two drugs. Personally i wouldnt take them within months of each other.
 
yep i've read about plenty of OD's with methadone and benzos; doesn't methadone cause more respiratory depression than other opioids?

I'm very sorry about your friends but this is a bit over-dramatic. While it is absolutely in the interest of harm reduction to suggest people not mix opioids and benzos and explain why it isn't safe, saying it will kill you (not just can) and can never be done safely under any circumstances, and so on, can actually make people not take you seriously. For example someone who is on a stabilised maintenance dose of methadone can take normal therapeutic doses of benzos and be fine. The problems tend to come from uneducated recreational use and telling people to never ever do something without even explaining the facts is rarely helpful.

Number-wise there are actually more ODs from mixing other opioids with benzos. But methadone does pose some unique risks. The problems with methadone are that it takes so long to kick in, comes on slowly, lasts for so long, and that the respiratory depressant effects last longer than the "high" or analgesia.

So because it is so potent and takes so long to kick in, recreational users (and even pain patients or opioid treatment patients who are just starting on it) are more likely to take too much or redose too soon or assume they are fine to take some benzos when in reality they aren't even fully feeling the effects of the methadone yet. Or they may redose the methadone or take benzos when the effects of the methadone have worn off, not realizing that the potential for respiratory depression is still heightened and the methadone builds up in their system. People who OD on methadone + benzos may also be less likely to get help, they just fall asleep and don't wake up. Add all these factors to the fact that in certain regions a lot of people tend to mix methadone and benzos - it just seems to be very popular in some places. Maybe they are both easily accessible in those areas or something.

But I think a lot of the ODs are people who aren't even aware that taking opioids and benzos together greatly increases the respiratory depression and therefore your risk of death. The fact that people are asking about it here is great.

So that day i decided to skip the xanax, well the next day i took 1.5mg of xanax and later on in the day my boy gave me 5 methadones and i took 3, downed 30mg of done 4 hours later from taking the xanax with some delsym and had a great high. Although yesterday i dont remember passing out at all?

My girl said she would call me right back after she gets off the phone with her dad and when she called back 10 min later i never answerd she called 7 times and i didnt wake up.. did i die and then come back to life this morning? Shits Scary guys be safe when your mixing depessants, you never know what can happen no matter what tolerance you got.

I gotta say though i'm startin to really dig methadone
 
please, i strongly advise you don't get a 'done habit, it sucks, 1-2weeks of daily dosing and you'll get no mood lift/euphoric effects from your regular dose, then you have to continue upping the dose to get any opiate "feel" apart from being slightly slower mentally and physically no euphoria NONE it sucks.....

i've been 2 months off metadone minus 2 tmes i took 'done for legit acute pain, and one rec. high...

methadone is for opiate substitution ie. if you're addicted to Heroin or oxy etc.

(also you ddn't die and come back to life.. you just slept/passed out IMO)

"Delsym"... DXM? thats some pretty crazy stuff... did you have an out of body experience? coz iME DXM is the "dirtiest" psychadelic dissossiative i've tried.... did you enjoy the high? what dose of dextromethorpane did yyou take,?

No problem :) It's understandable. Mixing opioids and benzos are the number one cause of overdoses.

It's highly unlikely that you died and then came back to life, you were probably just very soundly passed out. Please be more careful next time!

Are you already physiologically dependent on opioids? Methadone causes the worst physical dependence with the longest-lasting withdrawals, and it is totally not worth it because as phatass said, you won't keep getting high for very long and then you will be chained to this miserable drug - I wouldn't wish methadone dependence on my worst enemy. Even for someone trying to get off a serious opiate addiction I would only recommend they consider methadone as an absolute last resort. It has some serious adverse mental and physical health effects too. Please stay away from it :(

Methadone is NOT just an opiate substitute. I have never been addicted to any street drugs or opiates & I take methadone, along w/ other medications, to help w/ my severe, chronic pain. Methadone is one of the oldest & cheapest long acting pain medications. I'm tired of everyone, including Dr's & Pharmacists, wrongly assuming that I'm a former heroin or opiate addict because I take methadone. I take it because it helps w/ my pain & that's the only reason why.

Just so were clear, you are a methadone addict. Better get used to medical professionals treating you like one.
 
I take 75 mg of done and 20-40mg diazepam per day for the past 2 years almost, and both medications have improved my quality of life and happiness :)
It can be done, in tolerant people who have true medical needs for them.

If you're looking to catch a buzz from the 2, you might be in for a shitty time. I'd save one for another day.
 
I have mixed the two and in those 2 days I lost my keys, missed an appointment and couldn't meet a deadline. I had a tolerance also.

I guess for me if I have to ask myself if I should or shouldn't … I probably shouldn't. That's just ime. :)
