R&B singer Chris Brown has tested positive for marijuana, leading a Los Angeles judge to set a November hearing to decide whether he violated his probation stemming from a 2009 assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna.
According to a probation report presented in court, Brown tested positive in June in Virginia, where he is fulfilling his community service, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg said. Brown, who is midway through a five-year probation sentence, produced a medical marijuana card after the positive test, Schnegg said.

Schnegg said mandatory drug testing was not a condition of Brown's probation. But she scheduled a November 1 hearing to decide whether he had violated his probation on that and other matters, including travel restrictions and fulfillment of his community service.

Schnegg gave Brown, 23, a warning in court, reminding him that he was a role model.

"You are not an ordinary person who can sit in your living room and do whatever you want to do," Schnegg told the "Turn Up the Music" singer. "More importantly, a lot of people look up to you, a lot of kids. What you do and what you say impacts a lot of people."

Brown's lawyer, Mark Geragos, said his client had "completed all of his community service."

Brown, who won a Grammy award earlier this year, was sentenced to five years of probation and six months of community service after pleading guilty to criminal assault for beating Rihanna on the eve of the Grammy awards in 2009.

And some people do prison time for not bashing a woman but having some weed? :? Weird the way things work sometimes.

Yeah and that ^... ?¿?

Haha. I was literally thinking, who gives a fuck, while reading this. then i saw the end of the article.. although, I apparently give a fuck or two

Kinda fucked up if he ends up actually doin some time because of weed, instead of y'know..kicking the shit out of a girl.

Welcome to America where burning flowers is worse than domestic violence. Apparently smoking pot will cause his followers to think less of him even though they're cool with him beating up rihanna? I just don't see how anyone in their right mind could care for
him after that. I don't give a shit about celebrities but still.

Wow. I think you're totally missing the point here. It's not that smoking pot is worse than beating your woman, it's that smoking pot causes you to hit women! If Chris Brown keeps smoking pot we will surely encounter a whole generation of drug crazed misogynists!

Radar Online says that Rihanna will speak in defence of Chris Brown if needed at a November 1 court hearing. Picture: AP

RIHANNA is reportedly ready to stand up in court and defend ex-boyfriend Chris Brown.

Radar Online reports that Rihanna is prepared to speak at Brown's probation hearing which comes following his assault conviction for bashing the Barbadian singer.

''Rihanna has spoken to Chris since his progress reporting hearing on Monday afternoon and offered her continued support,'' a close source told Radar Online.

''Rihanna told Chris she would go to court on November 1 for his court appearance and tell Judge Patricia Schnegg that she shouldn't set a hearing to decide if he violated terms of his probation because he has accepted responsibility for his actions and has apologised to RiRi on multiple occasions.''

''Rihanna doesn't care if she is criticised for standing by Chris, she genuinely loves him,'' the source added.

Indeed, the 24-year-old took to Twitter on Monday to voice her support for Brown.

''@rihanna: @chrisbrown I'm praying for you and wishing you the best today!' : thank u so much."

It was revealed in court on Monday that Brown had recently tested positive for marijuana but Judge Schnegg has decided against immediately finding him in breach of his probation and wants to have that conversation on November 1.

If Rihanna fronts up to that court appearance, the world's media is no doubt going to go along for the ride

How do I say this without sounding offensive? Nearly every battered woman I've known has gone running back to her abuser.

It's still possible to care about someone even though they may have hurt you. A lot of us may not have any personal experience with this, which is why I am sure a lot of you would be surprised by this.

I have known more than a small handful of people to still care/love someone in their lives, whether it be a partner, a parent, a child, or a best friend, despite an instance where that loved one has caused mental and physical abuse. I myself know and care deeply about two people who have physically abused me in the past (in a single event, not continually) and I will continue to care about these people.

That's all I want to say about that for now.
