I am trying to quit an opiate habit that ive bern taking oxycodone and or hydrocodone for about a year now. 60 mgs a day give or take. Anyways i was at about 23 hours since my last dose which was of oxycontin (very very small, just to try to dampen the wds when theu come) and was getting pretty bad feeling. Couldent sleep, was tossing and turning, upset stomach, and the worst anxiety ive ever had. It was at this point that i took a very very small amount od subutex to relieve the symptoms, were talking like 0.5 mg or less estimated. The symptoms went away for a while i was able to sleep. It is now 15 hours later and im still not feeling THAT sick. My question is: by taking a very small amount of subutex will i reset my progress of detox and start back at hour 1 when this wears off? Is this form of detox recommended or is it best to just do it cold turkey? I was trying but im so afraid and dont think i can do it honestly. I dont know what to do. Also how long until i will be feeling the wd again after takinv the small bit of subutex 15 hours ago? Thanks in advance for any attempt to help.

That is such a huge relief to hear that, but it almost sounds too good to be true. So i will basically keep detoxing while taking very small amountd of subutex?

Yeah just take it for 3 or 4 days, dont make the same mistake i did and keep taking it for "maitenance", discontinue the suboxone as soon as possible

Thank you so much for the answers. One final question:
what is a good amount of time to be taking the subutex for like this?2 days? 4 days? 7 days? I dont want to then get addicted to bupe, just want to do it long enough to override the oxy/hydro withdrawal, especially if bupe detox is easier after useing it for a short period. Any idea what the bupe withdrawal will be like in comparison to oxy/hydro withdrawal? Thanks once again everyone.

Well i guess you answered that question while i was typing, thank you very much!

Yep 4-5 days would ok but I'm saying your still going to feel some withdraws because feeding your system bupe will not let the whole process fully end until everything is out of your system but you probably did out wit the worst part but getting off the bupe I'll promise ya if you gett hooked on that is way worse that the oxys and hydros they last days and days longer.

^ this! I kept taking bupe and low and behold, the withdrawals are more painful than the drug you went on it for!! They sure don't tell you that

I'm at the point where I use subs between usage to avoid getting sick. The key to subs is use less, if you like the way it makes you feel, use less. Ive been shooting for a year and I still get away with 0.5-1mg under the tongue. 0.25-0.5mg if I snort it.

You will be surprised by just how little you need. Then you get to look at people that take 4-16mg a day like they are crazy because 8mg will last you 2 weeks.

So im basically at about day 4 of the bupe, and im still scared to stop taking it. Im thinking of extending the bupe for another 3 days. Your all basically saying the bupe wds are worse than oxy, but only after using bupe for a whole or in large amount? How bad will the wds be after using bupe for 7 days at a pretty low dose (0.5 mg twice a day) on average? Should i try to taper the bupe dose even lower? Will the wds be bad enough to keep me from working, and on average how long does the bupe wd last, and when does it peak?

bupe withdraws are NEVER worse than oxy withdraws. Bupe withdraw will last longer but be MUCH less intense.

and ya I would keep tapering as low as you can. It will only make coming off easier.

I would just take the .5 mg ONCE a day for 3-4 days and then just come off.

Doing what I said above you should just go through a week or two of very mild withdraw. Definitely not bad enough so you couldnt work.

If it's taken at a higher dose for a long period of time then the withdrawal can definitely be worse than oxycodone withdrawals. The worst kick I ever had was from stopping bupe maintenance cold turkey.

I suppose.

but NOONE needs to take 8+ mgs of bupe everyday.

I was talking about people who use bupe properly. ie use as low of a dose as possible to tapper off opiates

wasnt talking about people who foolishly take 16+ mgs a day for years like there doctor tells them to do.
