I'm interested to hear responses on this one.
I'm told gay men put the bottle of the side so the vapours fill the air and act as a muscle relaxant.

My wife and I sometimes use poppers.
Yes grabbing a bottle full of volatile liquid and then putting it down again while you're in the middle of the action is a nuisance.
For this reason many people use sniffers. This is basically a container with a little cotton wool in it.
You pour a small amount of the poppers on the cotton wool and sniff/huff from the container.
You feel the effect of poppers about 10-20 seconds after inhaling.
Poppers make your head swim. If you are standing you may faint.
Sensations in your genitals seem to be magnified and much more intense and pleasurable
If you are a man you may ejaculate without being aware of it.

I've never used poppers/Amyl. I don't want to either. Apparently they are not good for your heart and/or circulatory system. I've also heard they don't last long at all.
Friends of mine who were around in the 70s and early 80s used poppers but that's when they were real Amyl and they just would sniff them while dancing at bars or discos. Now apparently in the United States they're not amyl and the ones that are being sold are not like the ones from the 70s or 80s. I saw a guy on webcam sniff one and I asked him what it was like and he said it's like sniffing glue.

Poppers are best used fresh.
Once opened you are advised to keep them in the fridge.
They oxidize fairly quickly after being exposed to the air and once they''ve gone off they smell like sweaty old socks

I've only ever tried them once and they made me faint, probably because I already have low blood pressure. They only last for half of a minute or so anyway.

I love poppers and am a gay guy so no idea what it does for women. Its a vasodilator and it relaxes smooth muscle, makes anal sex much easier. The high is short lived but good, also, for me, it relieves pain, or makes me horny so I dont notice it as much. I am a total popper whore and use it too much, some brands do give a headache, you just need to try different ones out to see what suits. As others have pointed out they do drop blood pressure, so if your on antihypertensive (BP drugs) give it a miss. Saying that I do use them with viagra and meth and havent had any problems....yet. It is risky though.

even though the high is short lived i find the value in the fact that it eliminates (for me at least) the 'go slow, work it in gradually' aspect of pleasurable anal sex, and allows you to get straight to fucking like underpaid porn stars!!!!

Never used poppers in a sexual situation, tho seems a bit interesting. Only in its pleasure enhancing effects. I bought a bottle of poppers years ago, sold as room deoderiser(sp)... didn't fi nd much enjoynent. Just feel light headed an funky for 20seconds before getting a real bad headache.

It has the same effect on women. But we've find that the best time for her to huff is when she starts to feel orgasm coming.
If you huff at the same time you can orgasm simultaneously and feel wonderfully close.
when used while high on mdma the high lasts longer. It also seems to bring the mdma high on.
I use betablockers and have not experienced any problems.
So goes the standard medical opinion although there have apparently been only one or two reported cases of somebody having a hypotensive crisis after combining viagra and poppers.
If you are combining poppers with viagra/cialis and other drugs it's best to be lying down or reclining, just in case you faint.
One of my fave combinations is to use poppers after smoking a joint on the comedown from mdma. I do this while being fisted by my partner.
