It's akin to why I like watching the snooker when I can't sleep - The green of the table is very calming and it's just generally asthetically pleasing

I think snooker is one of the most relaxing things to watch heh, the colour of the table might have something to do with it now that you mention it

Even if you could collect your dole abroad £280 a month (if you're over 25, less if you're younger) still isn't going to go that far. You'd need to be making money in the country you were in too.

If you're on ESA it's nearer 400 quid a month.
Go somewhere cheap like costa rica, combined with a favorable pound/dollar exchange rate and you'll be laughing.

Where do you get your information Costa Rica is cheap? Its the most expensive place in Central America by miles.

I remember reading about it a while back in one of those 'top 10 cheapest places to live' blogs.

This isn't the one I remember though...

Costa Rica is one of the cheapest places to live. This beautiful country is furnished with scenic landscapes, various climatic zones, and plenty of wildlife variety. The only thing you need to keep in mind is the hot tropical climate, which might irritate some people! Generally, USD 500 - USD 700 per month would be more than enough to reside in a shared accommodation. San Jose, the headquarters of Costa Rica, is also cheap, with inexpensive transport services, low cost of living and household amenities. The further you move away from central San Jose, the cheaper life gets!

If you got foreign dole money (if you even can) then it would reflect the cost of living so it wouldn't "go miles".
Depends where you go, certain places in the Eurowanker union you get 60% of what you used to earn, up to 1400euro's a month for the first year. Which ain't bad considering it gives you the same buying power as £1400 would in the uk.

Anyone wanting to do that be prepared for a long wait for your 'U1' form to get through which will also piss on your parade if you wanted to claim double dole.

I read that article. Don't understand it. Costa Rica is definitely the most expensive country in Central America.
