Most recreational "nonbenzodiazepine"-hypnotic (Z-drug)

I tried zolpidem recently and loved it. So I got interested, did some research on deliriants, and found out that these "Z-drugs" are in a way one of a kind and very different, along with lorazepam which some people claim to have hallucinogenic effects in large doses. Is there another one of these drugs that has more recreational value? One with more visuals? One which is less sedating or with less amnesia? Basically anything that would make it even slightly superior compared to the others.

Edit: I guess I should add here that I'm trying to find a usable "deliriant" drug, and the z-drugs seemed like the best compared to anticholinergics or others.

Zapelon (not sure if right spelling) is pretty fun if you snort it. Quite short lived though.

As far as I know, there are only 3 substances called "z-drugs":
said zapelon (which I haven't tried)
zolpidem (I find it helpful in falling asleep, fun, but also risky in terms of doing/saying stupid things )
zopiclone (which for me wasn't as helpful in terms of inducing sleep and I felt strange and not exactly nice after it)

Zolpidem made some changes in visual perception and mostly at first tries. At first it's not sedating, but when you go into bed you can hardly stay awake for, say, 20min. It can produce amnesia and it's easy to take more than planned and not remember it.

There are actually 5, I think: eszopiclone and ramelteon are the other two, they are considered part of this group because they have very similar effects.
But thanks for that information, maybe the reason people mostly use ambien is because it's the only pleasant one.

IME ambien can cause recreational effects (and yes, sometimes they can get trippy) if you eat a lot *not recommended* or if your tolerance to benzodiazepines/hypnotics is somewhat lower. I'm prescribed the 10mg IR Ambien tabs, I've gotten weird lil' buzzes, but I can't feel that trippy-like sedation.

probably better to just get some actual psychedelics? trying to mimick their effects with z-drugs is a one way street to blacking out and having a bad time.

My favorite has got to be Zopiclone. I get a pleasant head buzz from it. Plus I like it when I begin to feel that nasty taste in the back of my mouth. That way I know there's an incoming head buzz. "Brace yourself!"

eszopiclone is just dextrozopiclone...it's just enantiomer pure...which just means you take less of it because it's the active compound and has less/less intense side effects than the racemic mixture...

We don't really allow drug comparison threads like this one - since you're just asking about recreational use. Please don't attempt to "trip", etc from the Z-drugs. They all tend to cause blackouts even at normal prescribed doses (5-15mg for zolpidem) and have very little recreational value.
