I would say yes, though we're not the same species that was alive 20,000 years ago.
Either way, "human" or "natural" isn't the same as "necessary for survival", unless that's what you meant to ask. But you probably could have answered that on your own. Much of what we do today isn't necessary for survival. And though these things aren't necessarily required to be considered human, they are part of being human.
Tribes in Africa, among other places, might laugh at us for our progress, but I would still consider it progress. Some tribes of ancient humans might have laughed at the first of their kind to walk upright, but who ended up on top? The ones who were more in touch with their inner-ape? Their concept of ape must have evolved as they did.
