Marijuana linked to testicular cancer

for what its worth the cancer cases in this study were more likely than control cases to have a higher education... stay in school kids. This is a good example of where correlation does not imply causation because I doubt they are really getting at education causing increased risk of this type of cancer.

There are no higher education receptors in the testicles. There are cannabinoid receptors.

Why is the headline "Marijuana linked to testicular cancer?" It should be "Cocaine significantly reduces testicular cancer."=D

That's what I'm saying!

Yet, if it was a study that said marijuana cures testicular cancer after 1 joint, not a single one of you would be bitching about credibility of the source or calling it sensationalism.

Funny how that works.

I think you kind of have a point, or at least I know what you're getting at.

Marijuana probably isn't as benevolent as many claim. I don't doubt it can also lead to schizophrenia.

Once again voxide your post contain nothing of value and based only speculation.

funny how that works.

Also analyzing articles by using a journalists poorly paraphrased piece of writing is absolutely silly and applies to any study showing positive or negative results in a study. This site isn't completely filled with individuals who don't question what others claimed as truth. Not everyone is as dense as you.
No, you're just so stupid that you can't even see the simple point I'm trying to make. If it was a study saying that marijuana smoke increases your lifespan by 450%, everyone here would be a lot less willing to cry out for sources and legitimate studies. Get a study like this, and hardly anyone can believe it. If you want sources for this so bad, then maybe you should also find sources for all the garbage rumors that weed is somehow supposed to be good for you.

It's not anywhere close to benevolent. I wouldn't call it dangerous either but you'd have to be one brainwashed sheep motherfucker to think there are no serious consequences down the line. Mostly everyone on here is biased as shit and will pretty much argue with any negative health claim to the very death.

I'm fine with this risk, seeing as the risk of developing testicular cancer at a young age is still incredibly low.

I got testicular cancer at the age of 29 although pot had nothing to do with mine.

Edit: I'm gonna look over what I wrote a little later and proof read, then reorganize due to the length of the post (I had a 500+ word response that dives a lot deeper into this)

Essentially, assuming that people here who would like to see more information on a journal article that is clearly trying to push an agenda (It says, "this is another reason not to smoke marijuana" with in it, while also giving a handful of other reasons why not to) are brainwashed into believe marijuana is only good and nothing will change that, is absolutely idiotic. You are directly calling the individuals here who work hard to spread not only the positive, but the negative information surrounding recreational drugs, to help reduce harm, brainwashed sheep motherfuckers. That is beyond ridiculous and only an attempt to feed a fire. You have nothing of worth to say so you attempt in whatever way you can to seem like your are the one last hope of sanity on this forum The one person who isn't blinded and the rest of us mindless idiots. Grow up. Learn to realize questioning information that is presented to you is not only a healthy thing to do, it is the right thing to continue to push the world forward.

BTW, Voxide, why not read through this thread. http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/threads/642335-Marijuana-Linked-with-Psychotic-Disorders

Not only is it not a positive article for marijuana, but it also contains many bluelighters, not shoving it away like it's the plague, calling it BS, etc. These people recognize some truth within the article with some discussion where it may have some flaws, but also some fully on board with what is being presented. They acknowledge that marijuana isn't some perfect drug with no consequences.

So once again, stop making stupid accusations, and once in your life realize that you may be wrong. The realization that I do not know everything, and am not always right, made me a better person. Accepting the fact that you are wrong, will get you a lot farther in the world. You open you brain up to much broader range of knowledge.

The founding professor and director of the National Cannabis Prevention and Information Centre (NCPIC) at the University of NSW, Jan Copeland, said the results were not surprising because there were cannabis receptors in the testes and smoking marijuana affected sperm development.

So did anyone else notice that this study was funded and researched through the National Cannabis Prevention and Information Center of Australia? Cause I did and then i went to check out their website and find out what they are all about. They seem pretty anti-cannabis to me....here is their website.

I mean these are some pretty big findings and this is the first time anyone has shown results that pot could cause cancer in such strong ways. The fact this study was run by a company that seems pretty anti-cannabis makes me wonder about the findings...

Are you implying that this is mostly because people don't take care of themselves on a basic level?

^Yes, valid. But I bet you will find most studies which conclude positive benefits of cannabis to be bias in turn. One cannot simply throw the results away based on such a coincidence.

Though I don't think weed causes cancer or has a link to cancer it is far from safe or harmless. Especially if you smoke it.

I'm not going to say the people on this site are brainwashed sheep I will say that the "stoner" communIty, especially younger ones, hold fast to the idea that it is harmless or good. Any drug is not harmless but they are not inherently good or bad.

I doubt cannabis will cause a specific cancer other then lung cancer from smoking, and the other problems from it. I doubt weed causes or cures cancer, it might have other benifits but it's not the holy grail.

Isn't pot said to be causing a higher sperm production[citation needed, as with any other 'weed fact']? Higher sperm count = more cells = higher chance at testicular cancer, right?

And yeah, me and my friends having arguments about this all the time. They feel that weed carries no risk at all, especially psychological down-sides. (too scared to admit?) Anyways, just accept that weed isn't the earthly formation of the baby jezus, it CAN be bad for you. It's quite addictive. (especially when you start toking before you go to bed *looks at himself*) Yet, it's one of the least dangerous drugs out there, so I get why some are defending it against an article like the one in the OP which states that "there is yet one more reason not to use the drug". Also, why hasn't there been "yet another cause for cancer" comment yet? I mean that area is getting quite ridiculous now.

Wow, I am shocked at such a bias stance in a study. ;) Thanks for the link neko. That was the info that makes a person shake their head as to how an article like this could even come out. Seems to me, in this day in 2012, controlled studies are all but impossible except for a few things. If something is determined to cause cancer, we often see other things a person comes in contact with that does also. Uranium in water, new pharm being pushed on people that have bad effects, car exhaust, the sun's rays, etc... Unless someone lives in a cage and not exposed to anything, studies are going to prove to contradict one another. Vtiamic C is good, no it's bad, no it's good. Fish oil is good, no it's not, yes it is. You get the point.

Trust in yourself, not others. And have no fear.

Funny how that works.

You have no idea how often I find myself battling propaganda being spewn forth from both sides of the cannabis pro/con issue. No need to generalize us all. Questioning studies is an important part of the scientific community.
