A little cutty cove in the Northern Pacific.
Preface: Used to be on 6mg's of klonopin a day for 4 or so years. That being said, I never really was affected by benzo's, even the first time I took one.

Now: I have weened off the 6mg's, but I had a stash left over and I had a really bad day. So I decided to try and see if I could get something out of my remaining kpins. So I took 15mg. Nothing. I didn't do anything stupid, didn't blackout, didn't feel relaxed, didn't even get tired. I already have an incredibly high tolerance to opiates (naturally) and I don't get withdrawals from opiates, even after my bad OC addiction. I guess it's hard for me to frame this into a question, but what the fuck is wrong with me? It's always taken a lot of every drug to get me off, but I can't believe 15mg of klonopin isn't even noticeable, not even +. Does anyone know anyone like this, or does anyone with a science background have any theories to why this might be. It's just kind of a pain in the ass to have to always buy three times as many drugs as everyone else. Any theories would be awesome, I would love to discuss this with people.

im confused, you used kpins for years at 6 mgs a day but you didnt get any effect out of them??the why were you taking them?

It's called tolerence. It's a bitch, and happens pretty rapidly on Benzos.

I can take 2mg klonopin or I can take 20mg of klonopin.

I've been taking them for a year.

I won't get anything out of the 20mg versus the 2mg. They are self limiting in this way. I'm prescribed 4mg a day but right now am pretty stable at .5 mg.

Might go back up to 1mg when I get my script filled again, as I'm not exactly comfortable, and it was a pretty rapid taper.

How slow was your taper might I ask?

You have to careful and responsible when taking them never excced the dose the doctor/leaflet states even though its prolly fuckin bullchit. They are a tuff road they are not jelly beans, although sometimes i have munched many a jelly bean. Great you can take 20mg of kolonopin, amazing. No docs telling you do that. Kolopin are shit anyway. Tolerance is something you need to manage in secret, buy some other bennys mix them up takes some days of, fuck it that way your tolerance will stay down. I always break at the end of a two week cycle for 4-5 days, that does the trick for me. They are mentally the worst days of my life but it works. Bout to have my prozac crossed diazepam cross spliff morning cup of tea! Cheers :)

Mixing or alternating benzos won't do much to help keep tolerance down, so I wouldn't put much stock into that plan. Also, 4-5 day breaks between 2 week binges is not sufficient in keeping tolerance down, and will only help a little with not developing physical dependence. I wouldn't say that it "does the trick" if this cycle causes the worst days of your life, mentally.

Klonopin and Valium have very long half-lives though, so taking a 4-5 day break doesn't allow for enough days without the drug in your system since there is likely still some metabolites in your system on those days. You could be physically dependent but may not be taking enough days off to allow withdrawal to begin.

I agree that once you have a tolerance to benzos you can take widely varying doses and get basically the same results. Once you get above a certain dose it all seems to feel the same, and I think that it was the OP is experiencing. I take 2mg of valium but if I were to take 10mg of 30mg the variation in affects would be negligible other than the initial increase in sedation brought about by increased dosages, but if I took these higher doses a few times I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the two.

One summer I was taking a lot of xanax, and 14mg would be the same as 4mg, with the only difference being in the amount of amnesia.

Well i say the worst days of my life when i was on the xanax and 2.5mg lorazepams, im not on them anymore so the 4 5 days of especially with etizolam are absolutely cool.

Really slow, 7 months to go from 6mgs a day to 0... I was on klonopin for 6 years too.

Also, like I said. The very first Benzo I took was a 20mg valium which did nothing. I had to take this kpins (not for fun or for anxiety or anything like that) for a specific medical purpose for which they worked, but I never felt any psychoactive effects. The only psychoactive effects I've had from benzos are from when they were delivered IV in the hospital

Yeah i was using them for a neurological disorder man. I had a seizure and they gave me them they helped but didnt really have any recreational use unless i upped the dose and smoked some bud, the withdrawals were nasty. I was on 4mg a day. There must be other medicines if you have a condition thats certified.

Fuck.

I guess the half life fooled me. Back up to 1mg due to some nasty allergic like effects/apocalyptic nightmares.

Why aren't brain surgeons busy studying how they replace GABAergic systems!? Fuck a heart, I need new receptors damnit! Probably needed them from birth.

Hey benny, can I ask how that taper went for you?

Do you feel better getting off than than you did before going on them? Did you use diazepam?

I've been using them on and off for ten years but only consistently for about a year, and got back on for a myriad of reasons chiefly as I'd never properly tapered any of my binge doses and after reading through the Ashton guide assumed I was going through a protracted withdrawal.

She says quite a few patients end up making a full recovery where they feel better than before they even started the damned things. That would be ideal for me.

Tommyboy -

Part of my reasons for coming off are from the realizations attained from your posts on your experience... So eventually, hopefully, I can be happy on .5mg diazepam if need be.

Have you ever tried librium in an equivalent dosage by chance? PM me as not to clutter up the thread too any more than I have already. Thanks.

Couple things here. First off, you were taking kpins for 4 years every day. That's gonna lead to a tolerance. Next, valium and klonipin both have pretty long half lives. Meaning they last a long time but they're not as good for a high as something with a shorter half life like Xanax. If you really want to catch a buzz try getting your hands on some Xanax or other short half life benzo and taking an appropriate dose for your tolerance.

Or just a different benzo to switch it up. I don't care for xanax usually, nor ativan. I also think temazepam/librium/etizolam/bromazepam are also shit, or at least in my past experiences with them.

I was given .5 mg xanax in the hospital the other day for some reason, and caught a pretty decent buzz off it. The ativan they gave me .5mg every 2 hours or so and even that wasn't too bad and I've always hated ativan. (was being treated for serotonin syndrome and took 15mg prior to admitting myself for the 40 or so lexapro OD I had just taken. Was given the xanax on 3rd night after incident. I believe the Kpins I took saved me from a great deal of physical discomfort as SS is treated with benzos, and they gave me very little as they don't care about actual suffering typically and don't figure in cross tolerance at all it seems.)

Whereas 8mg kpin would have given me about the same recreational buzz, and I'm a patient who always preferred klonopin to everything.

Variety is the spice of life, and benzo taste is like cigarette taste. Acquired, finicky, and by and large, to each their own.

I've been now prescribed klonopin for my benzo detox 0,5mg 3x daily for taper from my other benzos (xanax, temazepam and valium). It is strange benzo because first time I took it it caused me a little anxiety wich subsided later and then made me feel normal but not anyway high or nice like xanor or temazepam. Strange benzo indeed..

Fuck.

The taper was a nightmare. I had to do a relatively rapid taper because my doctors were very concerned after my opiate overdose that I would do something stupid... Every step down was a nightmare, I would have to warn my roommates before hand so that they would expect me to be up all night, irritable, in pain, etc.

I guess I didn't preface this enough... but I'm a very, very experienced user. I've tried about every substance under the sun. I've taken 6mg of Xanax with no effect. The only time the short acting Benzo's (like ativan and xanax) affect me are when I drink, which is basically just hopping on the black-out express. When I was first diagnosed with my disorder, I was a guinea pig for a pyschopharmacologist and he was dumbfounded with this and had me take 4mg of Xanax in front of him, and he sat there looking at me with his jaw dropped as I sat there normally (this is before I was on such a heavy dose of klonopin). Of course I was horribly depressed because I was just diagnosed and I ended up going home and pounding 5 beers and... blacking out. However, in terms of recreational value. The only time I've ever "enjoyed" being on a benzo or had relief was when I have been given IV Benzos in a hospital.

I'm not really sure where I'm going with this thread but I couldn't agree with Tricomb more... I feel so much better. I remember trying to take way more than needed or selling my pills and running out and having to go through benzo withdrawal on several occasions, and getting hospitalized more than once because of it. Now that I'm no longer tied to the drug, I don't have to worry about constantly having a supply. However, the medical issues it treated are coming back :(

I know, benzos get so ineffective on me too.

I also have a very critical question for the benzo experts: What is the Etizolam equivalent of 2 mg Klonopin?

I believe Etizolam = 10 mg Valium and Klonopin is like 3 x 5 mg Valium. But I don't know if that would be the 1 or 2 mg? Could 2 mgs equal 30 mgs Valium?
