President Obama’s ‘Harold And Kumar’ Video Draws Marijuana Hypocrisy Charges

President Obama recorded a video with the actors who portrayed stoner duo Harold and Kumar to promote the Democratic convention to young voters. But critics of the White House’s drug policy are not laughing.

“The fact Obama uses these characters to joke about this issue while on the other hand continuing to arrest people he’s appealing to is really disingenuous,” Morgan Fox, communications director for the Marijuana Policy Project, told TPM Tuesday. “As president he conducts more raids on medical marijuana facilities than Bush.”

The “Harold and Kumar” movies are inextricably tied to pot, which is featured or mentioned more or less continuously in each of their three films. At one point, the two characters smoke marijuana with an actor portraying President Bush, who they accuse of hypocrisy for arresting drug offenders.

It also explains the slimy tactics his DOJ uses to circumvent his "were not going to interfere with people doing things legal under state law" lie.

With big pharma funding his campaign, the only advocacy in regards to cannabis he's going to be doing is making sure they can make a profit off it assuming it ever becomes any shade of legal federally. That means a big fuck you to anyone who doesn't want to get their medicine from Pharma.
 
I think the DOJ has Obabo by the balls. The material evidence behind the Fast and Furious scandal, if leaked to the public, could sink his reelection bid. He is effectively their puppet. That's just my theory though.

Perhaps, but thats not the doj's fault. That's the president/congressional representatives fault for putting those individuals in charge. But thats not the root issue, its the $. $ influences politics pervasively, its a necessity to get elected. If politicians didn't use their power to the benefit of those who got them there, they would not get re-elected. Since the big O is just like all the others in regards to how much influence campaign contributions can buy, its his fault as much as the congressional representatives who nominated/approved these non elected bureaucrats who "have him by the balls".

He has no balls for choosing to nominate such inept individuals to run the depts below him, and under his command. Even if choosing the "right" people is politically dangerous/suicidal. Viability to get re-elected is the most pathetic excuse to rationalize putting inept individuals in non-publicly elected positions. It just shows how much of a sellout they are, and that politics is more important to them than governance.

People are getting way too hung up over this. Nowhere in that advertisement does it mention or show Cannabis. Clearly, being Harold and Kumar it's suppose to hint at "Oh, look at these two stoners sitting around on their couch", but that is still not the case. It's just a simple video trying to appeal to young voters. I think we all know it's ridiculous to assume the message in that video is "Vote for me, I'm a stoner-friendly president!" because that is just jumping the gun.

To be fair she was already acting director of the DEA from Bush and was only officially appointed in 2010.

Haven't the actors Kal Penn and John Cho never actually gotten high(or so they claim)? What, they couldn't find someone who actually know what it does instead of going off Cheech and Chong. Wasn't the first movie basically an ad for White Castle?

It is pretty hypocritical that the last three presidents used drugs but allow the status quo to remain. Lets see, Kennedy used amphetamines, Nixon(founder of the War on Drugs) secobarbital, Carter was rumored to smoke weed, Clinton used weed("I did not inhale"), George W. Bush weed, LSD(possibly, would've never guessed) and cocaine, and Obama weed, cocaine and even considered using heroin.

But I am tired of voting my fears.
I did that every in presidential election since 1988.
When I lost, I wished I had used my vote to support the one I liked, since I lost anyway.
When I won, they betrayed the country by putting money and votes above morality and taking basic care of the people.
Democrats and Republicans have allowed at least 25 million people to live below the poverty line essentially continuously since at least 1959. It is part of the strategy. An unemployment rate that is too low is not useful to any of them.
The war on drugs gets stronger with each president since Nixon (except Carter).
It doesn't matter overall if they are Democrats or Republicans.
I want to vote my morals now.
