I'm saving up for a bong and after visiting my local headshop i noticed that my shop charges more on features then artwork as in there's a 3 foot colorful uniquely shaped one for $less while the cheapest one with a single perc system is $more, now my shop might be a little skewed with prices but since I'd rather not get one online and get it local, Are percs worth it? I know they do make it somewhat smoother but it seems a little excessive to spend >$more for a 1ft basic perc when i can get a nice sexy looking one for $less with an Ice Catcher. I don't think the slight improvement of smoothness is worth the difference especially since percs add drag. Also on the topic of how effective are percs, is there any difference in Beaker vs. tube besides looks

I'd say be weary of assuming just because a peice is pretty doesnt mean its as good of quality. Head shops get cheap buys on glass blown overseas and its not nearly as good quality of glass, or as finely blown. It takes a good eye to know what your looking for in a hand blow glass peice, I go to a local glass shop, its not a head shop is a place associated with a local glass blowing studio and their pieces are affordable and they are made with care.

It could be a matter of the quality of who produces those peices at the shop your at. Head shops have huge mark ups that is a fact.

I agree with Neko. If I were hypothetically going to spend a lot of money on a glass piece or a glass bong I would not get it from a headshop. When I smoked herb and had glass pipes and a glass bong I would get them directly from a glass blower themselves. I would pay a lot less than what you'd hypothetically pay in a headshop. Plus I was supporting an artist. :)

Headshops are good if you want to get rolling papers, pipe screens, cheap pipes not made out of glass, and cheap acrylic bongs.

I used to go to headshops that had cheap metal, wooden, and stone pipes but that was before glass pipes were really around and at the time you couldn't get anything for smoking herb online.

I also remember being a teenager and buying a nice dugout and one hitter at a headshop and I did buy a glass one hitter at a headshop on 4/20 when I was a Senior in highschool; but I wanted one that would fit my large dugout.

If your headshop has expensive prices and you know the type bong with features that you want why not get it online? With bongs I would keep it simple and just get a straight tube, or have it straight at the base and a bit bent with the part you smoke out of. I never put ice into the glass bong I had; but I would put it into the acrylic one that was tilted for ease of smoking.

If you're getting a bong since you want to cool the smoke or are worried about your lungs/respiratory system I'd just get a well made vaporizer. I've seen people hook up their magic flight launch box to a bong and other vapes that people use like the desktop models, but it's not necessary to use a bong with a vape since the vapor is very smooth and it's warm but not as hot or dense as smoke is. You don't have to have a Volcano in order to have a high quality vape either. Also if you vape you'll be getting way more THC than you will from smoking out of a bong.

yeh keep it simple...you want to be able to clean her out nice and easy

iv used glass, ceramic, plastic and i rekon nothing beats a bamboo beauty...except for maybe a big doubley chamber glassy...but they never last, the ground or something always jumps up and smashes them, whereas my bamboo beauty could be used to split a skull and still function nicely as a pipe

wax the inside of your bamboo or just wait till all the insides are coated with black shit then they smoothe right out better than glass imo

Just do whatever you feel like. There are obvious benefits of getting a cheap as well as expensive piece.

Having smoked on all kinds of pieces from a shitty apple pipe, all the way up at a £300+ one of a kind blown for this guy glass bong.

And I can honestly say shitty cheap acrylic ones are my favourite, they're so cheap, harder to break than the high quality glass ones, and your not paying an extra £280 just to have a slightly less harsh toke.

not hating on you glass smokers, it just makes me lol how you make them out to be this deluxe luxury smoking experience. Which they are, but not to the extent you guys claim. I See it the same as paying over 3x the price for 1st class, sure it's nice but is all that cash really worth slightly comfier seats?

i smoked outa all kinds of nice bongs i prefer more basic ones i find that percs decrease the taste of good weed a little bit. id go with a regular bong that is made with good quality glass. also it depends what kinda perc i like the vortex ones that make the little hurricane inside your piece. those ones tend to take less taste out of the hit.

Just get a simple 2 foot bong. When I was younger I thought it was soo cool to have the biggest bong the most percs etc. It ended up being a pain in the ass. I have a 14" beaker with a kink and it gets the job done. I do miss my old 18" Red Label RooR though! And my 9mm beaker/bubble bottom. Aw the good ol days

Google mauiwowie bootoob. I would go for one of these as they would be durable as hell and make a great party piece plus it uses a glass bowl.
