for anyone who's seen Cocaine Cowboys

Griselda Blanco, the drug kingpin known for her blood-soaked style of street vengeance during Miami’s “cocaine cowboys” era of the ’70s and ’80s, was shot to death in Medellin by a motorcycle-riding assassin Monday.

Blanco, 69, spent nearly two decades behind bars in the United States for drug trafficking and three murders, including the 1982 slaying of a 2-year-old boy in Miami.

Called the “Godmother of Cocaine,” she was deported in 2004 to Colombia, where she maintained a low profile.

Colombia’s national police confirmed her slaying late Monday. According to Colombian press reports, two gunmen on motorcycles pulled up to Blanco as she walked out of a butcher shop in Medellin, her hometown. One man pumped two bullets into her head, according to El Colombiano newspaper. It was the sort of death many had predicted for her: Blanco has been credited with inventing the idea of the “motorcycle assassin” who rode by victims and sprayed them with bullets.

“It’s surprising to all of us that she had not been killed sooner because she made a lot of enemies,” former Miami homicide detective Nelson Andreu, who investigated her, said late Monday. “When you kill so many and hurt so many people like she did, it’s only a matter of time before they find you and try to even the score.”

So she finally went down eh? She seemed like a definition of evil if you go buy what everyone in the documentary says of her.

Cocaine Cowboys II was almost exclusively about her, though she was mentioned quite often in the first movie as well. Cocaine Cowboys is a great movie/documentary about the cocaine business in the late 70's/early 80's in Dade County Florida. Highly recommend checking it out if you haven't seen it

yeah I seen that

got what she deserved Id say

took a while though

I didn't watch CC II but I did watch the first and really enjoyed it. I kept thinking about how crazy that whole business really is. I never thought they would be that wealthy and that massive in terms of organization size. I mean, after watching it, it makes sense but I don't think everyone thinks about people in the drug business being wealthy and professional to that extent. Of course there was violence but I don't think many people think of a drug dealer in that way. They weren't on street corners but at the end of the day, they were still selling drugs.

Colombia's "Queen" of Cocaine gunned down in Medellin

From NPR.org:

— "According to law enforcement, she oversaw a billion-dollar criminal organization that transported 3,400 pounds of perico a month into the United States. She revolutionized smuggling by developing her own line of underwear with secret compartments to stuff drugs into."

— She was "accused of masterminding at least 40 homicides from Miami to New York, including the murder of a two-year-old boy" who was killed when gunmen missed their intended target.

incidentally, does anyone know about possible increased testosterone production in females due to prolonged use?

^Inside maybe.

I wonder how many like her are out there, just as big or bigger, but never make the news or get caught.

What I don't understand when I see these true stories is WHY?!

I mean... You would have to be a profoundly deranged and a level of narcissist on par with Michael Jackson to ever WANT that much money.
I hate to throw it out there, but, Mo' money, mo' problems!
At a certain point what the hell is the use of continuing aside from feeding your self obsessed attitude. It's what is happening to Walter White! possibly it is because I have never been in the situation so, I can't wrap my head around $100,000,000 being anything that I want a part of.

She got what she deserved. Monster.

when are they going to make a good documentary about the Heroin buisness? I believe they haven't done this b/c the heroin is shipped in basically by the US gov't (CIA or some other agency working for the gov't)... But if someone made a documentary about the truth behind the heroin trade i think it would be a world wide sensation that would topple world gov'ts over night... c

If you want to see a good documentary of the Heroin Trade in New York in the 70's, look up Mr. Untouchable......it has Nicky Barnes in it. pretty good actually.

Who the fuck would kill a two year old?

He wasn't the intended target. She ordered one of her hitmen killed because the hitman had slapped her son. When they caught up with the hitman, he had his son in a car seat and the son got caught in the crossfire.
