Took some Ritalin earlier, around 1030am, and wondering if I can now take Tramadol.

How long should you usually wait between two drugs to avoid interactions?

Thanks~!

OK well I wasn't aware and I did...what should I do? It has been about 8 hours and I took 250mg of Tramadol.

..... Why bother making a thread if you're going to risk Serotonin Syndrome anyways?

Hope for the best, if anything happens do not hesitate to seek immediate medical attention.

Symptom onset is usually rapid, often occurring within minutes. Serotonin syndrome encompasses a wide range of clinical findings. Mild symptoms may only consist of increased heart rate, shivering, sweating, dilated pupils, myoclonus (intermittent tremor or twitching), as well as overresponsive reflexes.[1] Moderate intoxication includes additional abnormalities such as hyperactive bowel sounds, high blood pressure and hyperthermia; a temperature as high as 40 °C (104 °F) is common in moderate intoxication. The overactive reflexes and clonus in moderate cases may be greater in the lower limbs than in the upper limbs. Mental status changes include hypervigilance and agitation.[1] Severe symptoms include severe increases in heart rate and blood pressure that may lead to shock. Temperature may rise to above 41.1 °C (106.0 °F) in life-threatening cases. Other abnormalities include metabolic acidosis, rhabdomyolysis, seizures, renal failure, and disseminated intravascular coagulation; these effects usually arise as a consequence of hyperthermia.[1][3]

The symptoms are often described as a clinical triad of abnormalities:[1][5]

Cognitive effects: headache, agitation, hypomania, mental confusion, hallucinations, coma
Autonomic effects: shivering, sweating, hyperthermia, hypertension, tachycardia, nausea, diarrhea.
Somatic effects: myoclonus (muscle twitching), hyperreflexia (manifested by clonus), tremor.

Because I was looking at other sites and read that if you had no history of seizures that it should be OK. Obviously I wouldn't want to put myself in danger. How will I know if I need to seek help? What will happen? I feel fine now...also took 1mg Lorazepam. Just chill.

Thank you

Whatever other website you got that from is severely mistaken. Not to mention that the risk here isn't inherently the seizures, it's serotonin syndrome.

What was your dose and route of administration of methylphenidate?

Well man I really don't know, you're cutting things really fucking close. I cannot predict the outcome but I wish you the best, read up on Serotonin Syndrome and seek immediate medical attention if necessary.

I know that it's safe practice to wait at least 24 hours between dosing tramadol with any of the countless things it has negative interactions with.

I still feel fine. I was reading up on SS and it said that taking a benzo helps a lot.

Thank you greatly for your help

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you man! In the future please just give people time to answer your question before you mix drugs anyways. This could have been (still could be) a disaster.

Benzodiazepines do help with the extreme discomfort of Serotonin Syndrome, however they do not treat serotonin syndrome, which can be fatal if a serotonin antagonist is not administered.
