Heroin The itch!

I'm a daily (when I can afford it) IV user. As with most people when I first started using I would get extremely itchy from the histamine release.... this quickly subsided the more I used. Now I've been buying off my regular man and i'm pretty sure it's the same batch but the past 2 days I've been using i've been getting so so itchy to the point where im bleeding from scratching.
So any ideas as to why this has suddenly started happening again after years without it? I know an anti-histamine would work wonders right now before I rip my effing skin off, but i don't have any.
 
I love the itch even when I've scratched hard enough to bleed. I honestly hate when I don't get a good histamine release. I used to get a good release from methadone till I got used to it, hydrocodone when used infrequently gave me good itches. Usually it seems when I havent used the particular opioid in a while it will cause a good case of the itches. Sometimes my shots of heroin won't cause me to itch and I think some of it is because of the cut (like using diphenhydramine).

To your question, Maybe the cut is a little different causing more of the itch than usual. Are you using more than usual? That may alsobe a factor.
 
I used to LOVE the itch too. Especially the one from dihydrocodeine, but i'm so used to going without it now. To be honest it wouldn't really be bothering me half as much as it is if I wasn't planning on going to sleep soon lol.. Nope not using any more than usual, actually having smaller shots. I think you are right though, it must be cut different, or maybe it's stronger?

EDIT: It's weird how there are 'good' and 'bad' itchs lol, but it's so true. ^_^

I'm 90% sure that you're itching a lot due to a cut in the heroin that you're having a mild allergic reaction to, that or you've been getting more potent bags.
 
If you want the same, exact dope high without 1st gen anti-histamines like Benadryl "dirtying" up the subtle aspects of the opioid high, then look in to 2nd gen ones like Cetirizine (Zyrtec). Cetirizine is my favorite antihistamine, and I take 10mg/day on opioid days, and it lasts all day.

I used to LOVE the itch when I was heavily dependent on ~120mg of prescribed hydrocodone a day. Grabbing a backscratcher and going to town while listening to my favorite music, oh man :D

But now, I suppress the histamine release to reduce stress and anxiety, since your body releases Cortisol in reaction to histamine is a directly proportional manner. I really didn't like the mental cloudiness from the anticholinergenic effects of DPH, Doxylamine, Hydroxyzine, and even Chlorpheneramine; they totally screwed up the opioid high and dulled the euphoria, imo, although they did add to the nod.
 
Yeah I couldnt go to work today because my mum could see that I had scratch marks all over my face and arms. I have a feeling there is a bit of unreacted morphine in most of the gear that I get because even though I dont use every day I usually get a really bad itch. My mum who is a nurse as am I seems to think that im allergic to H which may be somewhat true but I think im just especially sensitive to the itch.

Some opiates/opioids are more likely to cause an itch than others, codeine can be bad for some as can morphine and oxycodone. Some that are not so bad are bupe, methadone and heroin(in comparison to other opes) but everyone is different. I get a pretty bad itch from all opiates/opioids and usually dont mind it but today I had one 25mg promethazine because it was pretty bad and did start bothering me. Dont ask me exactly what im talking about but I think theres different levels of certain chemicals in your body on different days that makes you more itchy some days rather than others.

Good luck, id consider taking anti-histamines for sure.

^This. I would find particular batches to make me much itchier than usual and often that was when it was cut with other opioids. But we have no idea what could be in your dope, people cut it with all kinds of shit. Have a shower, apply some soothing cream (or even an anti-itch cream like Gold Bond or something) and try really hard to not scratch as that tends to make it way worse IME.
 
On my phone so I don't know if it's been said, but slap it. When I get itchy I slap my skin instead and it saves me the scars from scratching.
 
Thanks for the replys guys, I got today from my other man and seem to be itching just as much and it's completely different stuff, much better actually. So i'm guessing this itch is from the quality. Me being me I totally forgot to get myself some anti-histamines so will be another night of loosing another layer of skin lol.
