How many mg of magnesium citrate per day to reduce/slow stimulant tolerance?

Since every source on the internet says magnesium oxide is shitty and doesn't get absorbed, I picked up a few bottles of magnesium citrate. How much should I take per day and when?

Why would it blow out your colon? Are the doses on your bottle for use as a laxative or something? I normally take around 300mg twice a day (for a total of 600mg). But less than that should be fine, maybe try 200-300mg per day? It's generally recommended that to avoid side effects you should take no more than 400-500mg/day, but I've taken much more than that with no problems. I normally take one in the morning and one before bed.

You should look into chelated magesium. It is 10x more absorbed by the body, and thus is much more effective in preventing amphetamine tolerance.

Yes, I bought the liquid walgreens laxative magnesium citrate. 1750mg per fl.oz. and there's 10 fl.oz. in the bottle, and it instructs you to drink the entire bottle.

Oh I see :)
I just checked the kind I have and it's part magnesium oxide and part magnesium citrate. As pbuilder said, chelated magnesium has the best absorption. The magnesium content of magnesium citrate corresponds to about 11% by mass. The concentration of 1750mg per fl.oz means 1750mg of magnesium citrate, not of actual magnesium. So taking a whole bottle as a laxative would equal about 2g of elemental magnesium. I would say that this is probably not an ideal form to take your magnesium in and that in the future it would best to find either magnesium citrate tablets meant to be taken as a supplement or chelated magnesium. Since you already have this liquid, I would just take about 2 teaspoons or so at a time then. There are 6 teaspoons in an ounce so 2 tsp should be around 580mg magnesium citrate, roughly 65mg elemental magnesium.

I don't think there are any hard and fast rules about dosing to prevent tolerance, it's not that well-studied yet, but I did read one study in animals where they found minimum of 12.5mg calcium/6.25 mg magnesium per kg of bodyweight worked, so I take a calcium/magnesium supplement and make sure I get at least those doses.

i have magnesium oxide i bought it to stop my jaw clencing sometimes 36 houurs after my last stim dose (4-fa,6-apb,,,,,,,) it says its a mld stimulant, and helps with cramped muscles, it sas it has 395mg magnesiuum ccarbonate= 100mg mmagnesiumm will this "bow my colon out"?? i mean i knnoow maag has lax properties but srely 1 or 2 can't hurt,,,,

it also said that mag is for acute insomia with mild anxiety and sllight irritabiility n the other things i menttioned how much mag i needed to ave a noticeable laxative effect?

No, that won't blow out your colon, 1-2g of magnesium won't anyway. 15-20g like it instructs me to take on my bottle would.

If each capsule contains 100mg magnesium then taking 1 or 2 is definitely not going to "blow out" your colon, let along give you diarrhea or anything. I don't find it to be a stimulant though. As a laxative it is normally taken in larger doses, like around 2g. But you don't want to be taking large doses every day.

Your bottle doesn't contain 15-20mg of magnesium, as I said above it contains about 2g of magnesium, as magnesium citrate is about 11% magnesium. 1-2mg of magnesium should definitely have laxative properties. Do not take 20mg of actual magnesium. I'm not entirely sure what you meant by "blow out" your colon, but if you meant rupture the lining, taking magnesium in laxative quantities shouldn't do that, it would just give you diarrhea if you were not constipated.
