TWO WHEELS ARE BEST! EADD Bicycle Thread.

That was an embarrassingly short cycle ride. About 3 miles then knackered. It was uphill all the way out, mind. I'm not ready for the hills, obviously :(

I desperately need a bike, my new job involves zipping all over the place and I've not passed my driving test yet.. public transport's really not goping to cut it :|

Any tips? How much cash am I going to have to part with? I'm uber-skint at the mo but don't want to end up with a pile of rubbish.

I've not ridden a bike since I was in India on my gap year (bar an ill-advised ketamine cycle last summer and an "interesting" trip to Center Parcs) but I'm pretty excited about getting back in the saddle. Brimz we can finally do the Brizzle-Bath cycle path!

Yes!! I owe you a PM I know, and it is coming, been a crazy time... just you wait and see <3

Knock, I believe they do, I shall look into that, thanks! Was going to get a bike through that a while back, had forgotten all about it :)

you're going to have to pay over £100 even on ebay for anything not super crappy. gumtree/bloke in street stolen can be cheap as fuck if you don't give a shit. personally i do, an ex didn't and got arrested when the original owner recognized his bike. ha.

Bloody murder ain't it - the mind is willing the legs not :|

We went out on our bikes for dinner at the marina tonight, nice Italian place only 2 miles from the house, easy peasy on the way there, got fed up on the way back with a full tummy and the wind in my face + its uphill 8)

Lazeee...I need to get on my bike more!

Great thread!

I got into cycling last year when I got a Boardman Road Comp. The best form of exercise for me, a few hours spent roaming country roads.

Nothing worse than cycling hard on a full tummy :( Is there nowhere you can go that's uphill on the way, coast all the way back?

We live up a hill - bit of a bugger :| Major fun on the way down =D

Coastal path at the bottom is ace %)

I've got a carrerra hybrid for bombing to work on, less than £100 second hand. I;ve got quite into the cycling lark though so really looking to upgrade. Drops look like they'd hurt my back though.

Also I want to go touring, has anyone here done that? Decent touring bike is going to set me back rather a lot of cash...

On the contrary, drops provide you with more options for positioning yourself. You're welcome to put your hands over the brake hoods, or on the upper part of the bars, and this is as high as most MTB bars will get you. But then you can lean forward and stretch out, or lean right down. More positions = less chance of stress. IMNSHO. And you can even fit triathlon/aero bars if you're keen for more choice.

I've always wanted to go touring too! Dawes Galaxy used to be the thing for that, probably still is. But you can get a second hand touring bike for a couple of hundred. I did anyway, 1989(?) Raleigh Randonneur. Admittedly I probably spent about £400 on it over the years, but it was an amazing bike until the frame split.

A mate just bought the parts for a new touring bike and is going to put it together to ensure he can fix it on the road. I think he might start off through europe, very exciting.

I want to tour through China but I've read the restrictions on traveling can be arduous.

i ve got a 2001 specialzed Rock Hopper that i bought for £100 in 2005. Great buy, nice and light and does me for my occasional bike ride.

My wife of transport. She hates me and wants me to die at any given chance.

Walking home from my mate's tonight and a student had obviously put it out from moving out. Very light frame compared to my '92 cos that slut weighs a ton, going to give it a look over in the morning.

What's that VAC? You stole a bike?

Not a phenomenon I'm familiar with!

(PS I like the "Powered by Mephedrone" sticker =D)

And, to be honest, that bike looks like it wanted stolen. I think I understand. Should I do the same with my mate's bike I want rid of? It's sitting in my shed; do I just leave it in the street?
