Ever do Ether?

And there's the halogenated ethers. Isoflurane has been abused, and also sevoflurane. Although sevoflurane seems to have caused more deaths. Desflurane is suspected to have decent abuse potential, it's properties are not unlike nitrous oxide. Haven't read any cases of it's abuse or deaths, although that could be because it's not widely used due to an unpleasant taste, smell, lower potency, and higher costs.

About 12 years ago(has it been that long? Time flies!) my Mom worked in the Pharmacy dept of our local hospital and managed to bring home a gift for me. It was a halogenated ether(I can`t remember the Brand name on the bottle) in a small brown bottle. I might have the bottle some where as a keep sake. Anyway,my dear old Ma knew I was a big fan of HST and Fear & Loathing so she snatched me a bottle of ether for me. It was a blast. That small bottle lasted me the whole summer if not longer. Take off the cap,put a handkerchief over the top and give it a quick tip. Huff and enjoy! Walking became staggering,chuckling for no reason,massive sound distortion and time lapse wear all normal effects.

I remember bringing it to a party once. Me and 5 other dudes were sitting in a living room drinking beer,kind of in a circle. I pulled out the ether and a hanky,took a pull and passed it around. Apparently booze doesn't mix well with ether.8) The guy across from me turns his head and power vomits on my buddy`s ottoman.The kid next to him stands up,runs to the bathroom and pukes everywhere but the toilet. Then my friend starts to yell at the kid but interrupts himself by puking down the front of his own shirt.
I start laughing and gagging at the same time. A fast thinking kid next to me grabs a plastic bag(from the store the beer came in) loops my hands thru the bag handles and stands me up. I puke with such force my glasses fall off as I`m ushered to stand outside on the patio.
That was one hell of a fun night! Even tho I ended up being forgotten about,locked out on the patio,during a heavy rain storm,with no shoes on,without my glasses and holding a bag full of my vomit.

There was also the night I was laying down in bed watching Conan with the bottle under my nose. I ended up knocking myself out for a little over an hour. I woke up only because my hand relaxed enough so that the open bottle angled itself away from my face. Kinda scary in retrospect.
 
It's been thought that the effects of inhalants come from their interactions with cellular membranes. This also explains why "roughly" inhalant potency is a linear correlation with fat solubility.

Some inhalants also interact with GABA receptors and various ion channels.
 
I did ether once and jumped into the pool right after. It was amazing, but just the taste and stench of it turned me off of it afterwards.

Were you inhaling through your mouth? I've found out Ether will make me sick in a hurry if I do it through my mouth but through my nose, I could huff a whole can without getting sick. It burns a little that way but you'll get used to it, the burn is way less than chloroform. Also, the slight burn happens in your throat while chloroform burn happens in the sinuses.
