I have a pain.. more like soreness.. in my armpit and on the side of my bicep on my left arm. Dont remember when it started.. maybe a week? give or take. I am an IV user and it feels like a pulled muscle or something (and thats what i've been writing it off as but recently thought it could be from IVing). feels like the muscle is kind of knotty, but was wondering if you can get sore up your arm away from your injection site(s). Any insightful comments welcome :)

We aren't doctors so anything we say is pure speculation. You need to see a medical professional. And although I highly doubt pain in your arm pit is from IVing I can't be sure. In my experience/opinion with pain in that area that radiates into the bicep was diagnosed as tendinitis from a pinched nerve.

Sorry, can't be more of a help than what I just said.

Oh i know. I wasnt expecting a professional diagnosis over the internet or anything.. just asking for opinions or people who may have experienced something similar related to IV use. I'm not too worried about it or anything. I'm pretty sure it was a pulled muscle or as you said a possible pinched nerve, but the thought came into my mind "hey i shoot heroin. there happens to be a vein that i use frequently that runs down the side of my arm to the side of my bicep, maybe i fucked up somehow" again not really worried just curious if anyone else has experienced this from IV use or knows if this could be caused by jamming dope up my arm :P

^ this. We don't know. We can only speculate. I would speculate if you are shooting up on that side it could be swollen lymph nodes since you said knotty. Go get it checked out by medical professionals. We are not doctors.

^^ A fair theory to be sure. Even sleeping in a weird position can cause a pulled mussel that can be irritating for days. I've done it before with my calf. Doubtful it's from IV, you don't exhibit any signs of infection right? (red streaking over the area)

Also, just to be sure, you aren't IMing shots I assume? That would be a lot more probable to cause what you described.

The reason why I said swollen lymph nodes is because if a bacteria inters your body it is engulfed by white blood cells and brought to lymph nodes. You can have mild tenderness to a lot of pain. Most of the time there is no streaking. It's just your bodies way of getting rid of foreign objects. Lymph always flows to your heart for disperment and disposal.
You have them in your arm pit area.

But it's probably a pulled muscle from what ever. It can take 1-2 days before the pain sets in.

Either way the best and safest advise is to just go see a doctor if it doesn't go away soon.

Interesting. I had to do some tough yard work yesterday that consisted of chopping through/removing some really thick overgrown ivy and working for hours and the chopping motion made the pain worse along with sleeping funky on that arm last night, and when i stretch my arm completely out it hurts down to my form arm now but the pain radiates from my armpit.. so i believe the connectivity of the muscles is whats causing the pain that far down, no? Also, the lymph node theory is plausible cause the knot i was speaking of is in the lower part of my armpit.. could be a muscle knot though too.

If it is swollen lymph nodes is that something that goes away on its own or would taking antibiotics or something be necessary? If it can correct itself i'll just wait and see if it gets worse or better and decide to go to the doctor from there.

Also, no redness or swelling (EDIT: well there's a bit of swelling in the armpit, but nothing major and it's hard to tell if there's swelling on the forarm so if there is its negligible) in any of the areas that there's pain so it's not showing signs of a common infection.

Thanks for the replies all.
