Hello Everyone! I currently got my hands on several suboxon strips. I have never take subs in any form before , but i do have a 120-210mg per day Roxicodone habit. I am wanting to quit the Roxies or atleast cut them down significantly. I am inexperienced at the subs though, So I need some quick input on the dosage based on my opie intake and also like a schedule. I am 25 year old white male and weigh 243 height 5'10.

Should I ween down first? COuld I say take 1/16th of a strip and one roxi in a day before going completely only on subs?
My friend said the subs are really stout and an 1/8 made him throw up, and he takes around 60mg a day so I have no clue what to expect or how much to take with these things . I handle opiates really well but I cant be throwing up and sick as I need to be able to continue working while on the subs. So please any info on like a recommended schedule or dosage would be more than appreciated; My goal is to use subs for 1-2 weeks to come off opies as I do not want to sub one drug for another and be a sub head; just need it to get through worst parts, so please help! I been using for 3 years!

(Please no smart ass answers or lectures, I just need sound advice and help , I would do the same for any of you if I have information I can help you with!)

start with 4mg and take .25 less everyday. thats how I would do it if i was tryin to come off in 2 weeks.

day 1- 4mg
day 2- 3.75mg
day 3- 3.50mg
ect
ect
ect

congrats on getting clean to. I can tell bye your attitude you truly want to get clean.

EDIT: be 100% POSITIVE you havent taken ANY opiates in the past 24 hours before takeing your first sub dose or you WILL go through PW.

i edited my first post re-read.

and if you take 1-2mg youll get a decent high. Not rely the traditional warm blanket high your used to, but a nice body buzz and mood lift.

ive only done subs a few times but it makes me a little sluggish but not to bad.

it always gives me a bad headache on the comedown. not sure if its common but its the only opiate that does that to me.

Wait until you are really in withdrawal before taking the suboxone. Start with 2mg and if after 2 hours it isn't enough, then add 1mg at a time. Suboxone takes a while to really kick in, which is why I recommend waiting a few hours before seeing if you need more.

That taper will work, but I feel like its probably better for someone trying to detox off of buprenorphine, rather than using buprenorphine to detox off of a full agonist.

My advice is to start off with 2mg 24 hours after your lt dose of oxycodone. Suboxone is a partial agonist with a strong affinity to the brains opiate receptors, so if you take it too soon, it will rip the other opiates off, and send you into precipitated withdrawal. So taking both oxy and suboxone at the same time is not a good idea (though I've heard some exceptions with low dose bupe and oxy in chronic pain patients).

So anyway, start with 2mg, and wait 45 minutes at least before taking anymore. Buprenorphine can take a while to kick in, so you don't want to make the mistake of taking more before giving the first dose an adequate ammount of time to kick in. If after 45-60 minutes you are feeling no relief I would taking another 2mg. The goal here is to take the minimum ammount of suboxone as possible, as buprenorphine (suboxone's active opioid ingredient) is a very potent opioid in its own right, and taking too much could potentially raise your tolerance. IME 4mg has usually been enough suboxone to hold me when transitioning from heroin, though you may feel more comfortable takin 6-8mg. Anymore would be a mistake.

If you use 8mg the first day, I would set up a taper something like:
DAY 1: 8mg
DAY 2: 6mg
DAY 3: 4mg
DAY 4: 2mg
DAY 5: 1mg
Day 6: .5mg
Day 7: .25mg

If you only need four mg the first day, than I would decrease the dose by a mg until you reach 2mg, at which point I would go down to 1.5, 1, .5, .25 then jump.

The nice thing about buprenorphine is that it has a 36 hour half life, so even when you stop taking it, it will slowly leave your system. You'll still deal with some minor withdrawal symptoms, but they should be bareable.

Great Info! Thanks So much! I had no clue that you had to wait a full 24 hours before taking the sub or it would make it worse.! I am so glad I decided to get educated before diving into this. You guys hav no idea howmuch I appreciate the prompt and honest answers, as this is a battle I need to win! I have a career that is amazing fall into my lap last month and do not want to screw it up.

@Dope man. I re-read the edit, thanks again and I do have the right attitude, i have tryed two other times but was doing it for the wrong reasons, mianly just to lower my tolerance to be able to get high again; but this time I want out of this I do not want to be a slave anymore to some tiny little pill for a two minute rush. I have a 6 figure career that fell into my lap recently and do not want to screw this up because I am nodding out or dope sick! Thanks for the info on waiting 24 hours because I had no idea it would make it worse, also do you know if you can smoke weed on this? Once again I do not want to substitute one drug for another just trying to get through first week or two and I ahve read that it relieves the anxiety part of of withdrawal fairly effectively, but if it is goin to not synergize with the sub and just make it worse then I definitely want to leave that out; also obviously the smoke would only be at night after a days work

dont listen to what alot of people say on this site, like for example "all you need is 000.0025mg of Suboxone to have effects, or whatever ridoclously low dose people spit out on here to other people. if you have a high opiate tolerance like which you explained, start off at 2mg, see how it helps, wait about an hour or so, if not, take another 2mg. 4mg total is ideal dose for maintenance to get off of opiates. bupe is VERY potent MG to MG wise compared to other opiates, it sjust a partial agonist, so you dont feel much euphoria after the first 3 times trying it
