chili peppers - under the bridge.

for when i'm out camping/fishing at a special spot shooting dope.

Has anyone else heard the version of Oscar G 'Darkbeat' where the lyrics are changed to say 'addicted to drugs' rather than 'addicted to drums'? They used to play that at 3D and bubble years ago.

Suprised noone has said this one but im glad as its one of my favourite songs and while this song is actually about meth I relate it to my heroin/opiate use. Its a pretty popular song actually and most people dont realise its about drugs until they read the lyrics.

Third Eye Blind- Semi-Charmed Life

I'm packed and I'm holding
I'm smiling, she's living
She's golden, she lives for me
She says she lives for me ovation, she got her own motivation
She comes 'round and she goes down on me
And I make her smile
It's like a drug for you
Do ever what you want to do
Coming over you
Keep on smiling, what we go through
One stop to the rhythm that divides you
And I speak to you like the chorus to the verse
Chop another line like a coda with a curse
Come on like a freak show takes the stage
We give them the games we play
She said
"I want something else
To get me through this
Semi-charmed kind of life
Baby, baby
I want something else
I'm not listening when you say
Goodbye..."
Doot (x24)
The sky was gold, it was rose
I was taking sips of it through my nose
And I wish I could get back there
Some place back there
Smiling in the pictures you would take
Doing crystal meth
Will lift you up until you break
It won't stop, I won't come down
I keep stock
With a tick tock rhythm
A bump for the drop
And then I bumped up
I took the hit that I was given
Then I bumped again
Then I bumped again, she said
How do I get back there to
The place where I fell asleep inside you
How do I get myself back to
The place where you said
"I want something else
To get me through this
Semi-charmed kind of life
Baby, baby
I want something else
I'm not listening when you say
Goodbye..."
I believe in the sand beneath my toes
The beach gives a feeling
An earthy feeling
I believe in the faith that grows
And the four right chords could make me cry
When I'm with you I feel like I could die
And that would be all right
All right
And when the plane came in
She said she was crashing
The velvet it rips
In the city we're tripped
On the urge to feel alive
But now I'm struggling to survive
Those days you were wearing
That velvet dress
You're the priestess, I must confess
Those little red panties
They pass the test
Slides up around the belly
Face down on the matress
One, and you hold me
And we're broken
Still it's all that I want to do
Just a little now
I feel myself heavy on the ground
I'm scared I'm not coming down
No no
And I won't run for my life
She's got her jaws just locked now in a smile
But nothing is all right
All right
I want something else
To get me through this
Life...baby, baby
I want something else
Not listening when you say
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye, goodbye...

I Also listen to hardstyle The_Student so a lot of that stuff makes me think of MDMA or meth but its not so much the lyrics but the music that gets me(going to Defon.1 Sydney 2012 fuck yeah 4th year in a row!!!:) ) The Prophet, Toneshifters, Donkey Rollers, Showtek all the best Aussie and Dutch DJ's. Not so much into the Hardcore/Gabber stuff though.

I associate psytrance with psychedelics as im sure most people do, most of Shpongle's stuff I have listened to on acid so I guess you could say I have little flashbacks when I listen to Shpongle if I havent listened to it in awhile. I have had some amazingly beautiful experiences while listening to Divine Moments of Truth especially but other Shpongle songs with LSD, 2C-I, 2C-T-7, DOC and various combinations of those.

I have also had some very deep, introspective trips while listening to TOOL but im sure this is not for everyone. I could see someone that didnt like metal or the heavier stuff freaking out if they listened to TOOL on a psychedelic drug but I love my heavy music. I have been a big TOOL fan for years so I tried listening to the 10 000 days album and a few other songs(from Aenima etc) on LSD and because most of their songs are between 5-15 minutes long and are very proggressive(build up, plateau, come down) they make for very good meditation sessions. I certainly wasnt thinking sweet, happy thoughts but I certainly had some complex and intruiging visuals and worked through a lot of the darker issues in my head. I think the guys in TOOL or at least Maynard has taken a lot of Psychedelics, probably LSD/Mushrooms and DMT, I think he's used a lot of heroin/opiates too which makes sense as his music is good to listen to on heroin as well, perfect actually, just right not too much.

Im sure theres many more songs but cant think right now, I listen to so much electronic music and most of it makes me think of drugs but also other things. Dance music and drugs go together, so go figure :P

This absolutely. Any hard dance gives me massive meth/MDMA flashbacks and cravings. Sadly it looks like I'm gonna miss DQ this year :( twice in a row now I've been too slack to make it happen. Ah well, always next year!

Another one I asssociate heavily with opiates, used to listen to it constantly when nodding:

Crystal Castles - Not In Love ft. Robert Smith of The Cure

i saw your picture hangin' on the back of my door
won't give you my heart
no one lives there anymore
and we were lovers
now we can't be friends
fascination ends
here we go again
cause it's cold outside, when you coming home
cause it's hot inside, isn't that enough

i'm not in love

could it be that time has taken it's toll
won't take you so far, i am in control
and we were lovers
now we can't be friends
fascination ends
here we go again
cause it's cold outside, when you coming home
cause it's hot inside, isn't that enough

i'm not in love
i'm not in love
i'm not in love
we are not in love
we are not in love
we are not in love
we are not in love

Another one I associate really heavily with drug use for so many reasons, first heard it when coming down off MDMA way back when I first started using drugs, later on it seemed to encapsulate the constant abuse of meth and later opiates both by myself and those around me, there's such a mournful, ethereal tone to it, but it's exciting and energetic at the same time. Easily one of my favorite songs of all time.

M83 - Don't Save Us From the Flames

Tina! Tina! Tina! Tina!

Out of the flames
A piece of brain in my hair
The wheels are melting
A ghost is screaming your name.

Tina! Tina!

Bleeding all around
Liquid metal through my veins
The radio's burning
A ghost is screaming your name

Tina! Tina! Tina! Tina!

Fuck I hate it how alot of shitty songs become well loved among drug users because of "drug references".

Alot of songs that are meant to be about women or something loved can easily be interpreted by people to be about drugs, still theyre better than political songs.

bubble <3

what about the organ donors' version of FTS by showtek where the majority of the lyrics are "coke and pills" haha

The Dope Show and I Don't Like the Drugs (but the drugs like me) Marilyn Manson ....these fall more under general songs with drug references.

Speaking of Manson, another great (but lesser known) drug song of his is Dissociative.

I can tell you what they say in space
That our earth is too grey
But when the spirit is so digital
The body acts this way
That world was killing me
That world was killing me
Disassociative

The nervous systems down, the nervous systems down

I know

I can never get out of here
I don't want to just float in fear
A dead astronaut in space

Sometimes we walk like we were shot through our heads, my love
We write our song in space like we are already dead and gone
Your world was killing me
Your world was killing me
Disassociative
Your world was killing me
Your world was killing me
Disassociative

I can never get out of here
I don't want to just float in fear
A dead astronaut in space
The nervous systems down, the nervous systems down
I know

Some of his slower, darker stuff is on my nodding playlist too.

slow-mo-tion from his latest record is pretty nice to bob bck and forth to while you're doing house work. it'd probably be nice to listen to while tripping on K, miss nervosa:D

Para-Noir for when you have got the tin foil hat on and in "don't fuck with me" mood ;) hey, cruel world is along the same lines.

tourniquet for when you're loading up and about to sink into the couch.

DJ Duro & The Prophet - Not E-Nuff

Pills, coke, mushrooms, stuff
Still tripping, ain't enough
Every day, every night
Not too late, hard to fight

Jugband Blues - Syd

It's awfully considerate of you to think of me here
And I'm much obliged to you for making it clear
That I'm not here.
And I never knew the moon could be so big
And I never knew the moon could be so blue
And I'm grateful that you threw away my old shoes
And brought me here instead dressed in red
And I'm wondering who could be writing this song.
I don't care if the sun don't shine
And I don't care if nothing is mine
And I don't care if I'm nervous with you
I'll do my loving in the winter.
And the sea isn't green
And I love the queen
And what exactly is a dream
And what exactly is a joke.

Green Velvet - La La Land

I've been the one to party until the end
Looking for the after party to begin
I'm going down to La La Land
I hope to see yaz soon in La La Land

Somethin bout those little pills unreal the thrills they yield until they kill a million brain cells
Somethin bout those little pills unreal the thrills they yield until they kill a million brain cells

Now I need to go,whos gonna give me a ride to the after show
I hope that I have enough change so I can make my brain rearrange
I'm going down to La La Land
I hope to see ya soon in La La Land

Oh what have I done, what happened to the morning
I passed the time away high again
I got to find a way to fill the space in time

La La Land is where I need to be
La La Land is the place that all sets me free

Brain cells
Has anybody seen my brain today? Ay
Can anybody pay my rent today? Ay

I find any music I listened to while high, can have a flashback effect on the body euphoria I felt at the time, although mild it makes it that much more enjoyable. Although i dont really dig hardstyle as much as i used to, this song will always take me back to that feeling of ecstasy

Showtek - FTS

Freaks on E, that's what we fuck man!

Ey yo, 1-2 , 1-2 - yo, hehe!

This is what I love, and can't stop loving
Get wasted at parties, from 9 'till 7 in the morning
I live for the music, rolling blunts, feeling high, getting loaded or take some pills and go to La La Land
Spending all my money on dope and extreme high priced tickets
But in the end it's all worth it
I like to live in my own world
Fuck regular life, fuck a 9 to 5 job
I'm told to enjoy every moment, every hour, every minute
That's what I do on Fridays and Saturday
Why should I take life so seriously?
I just wanna do what I like to do
Being far from reality, cause I can't stand society
This is my own world, I just wanna hear the music

I think the whole system f***ing sucks
Everybody's working their f***ing ass off during the week,
getting totally f***ing stressed out
So what's wrong, and what's right?
I live for the weekend, I live for hard styles, I live for hardstyle baby!

Come on! Let's go!

Hardstyle baby! [2x]

Freaks on E, that's what we fuck man!

tool, king crimson, mars volta and radiohead remind me of the acid and cactus days my friends and i used to have, especially tool.

nirvana, rage and deftones remind me of getting stoned in high school.

pivot, tv on the radio, animal collective, meshuggah and opeth remind me of when i first moved to melbourne and was partying and doing speed and pills with the guys i became friends with at the audio engineering college i went to.

tortoise and yes remind of when i started using heroin and would use at home then go across the road to the park and lie on the grass with my headphones on nodding out in the sun.
