haha, what? no other benzo discussion since the airing of that bullshit? surprise surprise;)

I'm back... It's been a while, I only seem to come on here now when I am on zannies, now I have a question! :)

I have so far had 3 mg over the space of 7 hours... It is now 1:30am and I have to be at work at 8:30am. I want to keep buzzing like always :-/ - tempted to take another 1mg to keep me going. (bad idea because last time I slept in until 12pm)

Question: Is there a quick, easy way I can sober up before I head off to work so I am in control of my walking, speech isn't slow, I am able to function okay etc (office work) - I haven't consumed any alcohol, just weed.

I did look on google for 10 mins but I couldn't find much information on my question, just how to handle the withdrawals.

Cheers,

MM

My psych is taking me off vals, after being on them for years, gave me 50 x 5mg to taper with I wonder if it had anything to do with that fucking report on sunday night 8( They gave me APO-diazepam at the chemist has anyone ever sublingual that shit? Fuck me it makes Antenex taste like candy!

Does a psych report to a GP in regards to prescribing benzos if he has directed me to taper with what i just got scripted today because I do worry about not having that relief of anxiety that no other drug or therapy can achieve for me.

Oh dude that sucks :( And very suspicious timing too :-/

In regards to the psych reporting to your GP,they can,but I think it depends on whether they'd feel the need to.If your psych suspects you might try to get more valium from your GP they may put in a call,but honestly (just going by my experiences) they usually wouldn't bother.

My advice is find another psych asap,as it seems like the psych has tapered you prematurely,which is utterly bullshit and unfair if you still need them to control your anxiety.Might be safer to see a new psych too,just in case your current psych has reported to your GP and your GP might put you on the doctor shoppers list if you try to get valium from them.

I really feel for you,I've been there,and it sucks <3

Cant fire my psych as he prescribes me other meds, but I saw a different GP once for a second opinion on the various different SSRI's my current GP used to throw at me like candy, she said she would be happy to prescribe me Valium as long as I keep her in the loop, after telling this to my current GP he was quick to change his mind on the SSRI's.

This was all before that stupid segment though, best thing I guess I can do is see the new GP I saw previously as she actually listened to me and seemed to take interest in what I had to say not like my current GP. Seeing a GP would probably be the cheaper option too as I'm not aware of any local bulk billing Psychiatrist's.

Ahh too bad you're not in Sydney,I know a couple of good bulk billing psychs.

Sounds like seeing the GP who was sympathetic is the way to go.I've seen enough GPs to know that one who actually cares is a rare find :\

5mg valiums aren't really a big deal to get prescribed,and I find if you're just open and honest with the doc,and let them know about your medication history and what worked and what didn't,and take an active interest in trying to get better,they'll usually be ok with prescribing a lighter benzo like Valium.If you needed Xanax it'd be much much tougher.

Man I hate going to the doc with the intention to ask for benzos on your mind. It always comes out all meek and pathetic towards the end of the appointment, trying to act all casual and spontaneous but in reality its all youve been thinking about since you stepped into the doctors surgery.

Ahh well, at least I got my temaz script. A piddly little 25 temaz. Better than nothing though.

they can't hand over any information unless you've given them your written consent to liase or you've been sectioned in the mental health act legislation

you're welcome:)

each different state has the same laws, just under different acts. for example here in victoria it goes as such

source
Division 2—Involuntary patients
8 Criteria for involuntary treatment
(1) The criteria for the involuntary treatment of a
person under this Act are that—
(a) the person appears to be mentally ill; and
(b) the person's mental illness requires immediate treatment and that treatment can be obtained by the person being subject to an involuntary treatment order; and
(c) because of the person's mental illness, involuntary treatment of the person is necessary for his or her health or safety(whether to prevent a deterioration in the person's physical or mental condition or
otherwise) or for the protection of members of the public; and
(d) the person has refused or is unable to consent to the necessary treatment for the mental illness; and
(e) the person cannot receive adequate treatment for the mental illness in a manner less restrictive of his or her freedom of decision and action.

Note
In considering whether a person has refused or is unable to
consent to treatment, see section 3A.

(1A) Subject to subsection (2), a person is mentally ill if he or she has a mental illness, being a medical condition that is characterised by a significant disturbance of thought, mood, perception or memory.
(2) A person is not to be considered to be mentally ill by reason only of any one or more of the
following—
(a) that the person expresses or refuses or fails to express a particular political opinion or belief;
(b) that the person expresses or refuses or fails to express a particular religious opinion or
belief;
(c) that the person expresses or refuses or fails to express a particular philosophy;
(d) that the person expresses or refuses or fails to express a particular sexual preference or sexual orientation;

to engage in a particular political activity;
(f) that the person engages in or refuses or fails to engage in a particular religious activity;
(g) that the person engages in sexual promiscuity;

I know what you mean. I hate going to the doctors to lie about suffering from anxietyand panic attacks, especially when you get a nice doctor that really cares.
But I feel the ends justify the means when I walk out with 50 2mg xanax's.

^ Me three.

I try to make myself feel better, especially if they're a nice/genuine doctor as you mentioned, by thinking that I'm not "lying" to them about my anxiety/depression/whatever the fuck, I'm just putting it in terms / a way that they understand. And if I abuse said prescribed medication, which I feel does give me legitimate relief, then that's my problem not the doctors'.

Ash.

for sure. the patient has to be accountable in their treatment plan as well, not just the dr because they're handing out the script.

Since I'm on a hefty regimen of weed and hash, I totally abandoned clonazepam and zopiclone for my sleeping purposes. That's great.

i've been taking diazepam (along with my PM) for a while now and am trying to now go the more natural route for my own sake and the wife and kids.

i'm taking advantage of being on holidays and getting clean. so far so good with the PM side of things.

has anyone had any success or experience with using Swisse Sleep (assists relaxation and natural restful sleep) while decreasing doses benzo doses and just easing overall aggrevation that comes with withdrawals, etc
