One month ago, Eric Holder testified before Congress that the Dept. of Justice is only targeting medical marijuana businesses that violate their state's laws. Anyone who didn't realize it was a lie should be getting the message right about now.

The federal government is moving to shut down the nation's largest and highest-profile medical marijuana dispensary operation, filing papers to seize properties in Oakland and San Jose where Harborside Health Center does business.

Copies of the federal Complaint for Forfeiture were taped to the front doors of the two dispensaries Tuesday, alleging that they were "operating in violation of federal law."

Medical marijuana advocates, as well as some state and local officials, decried the action, saying it hurts patients in legitimate need of the drug and breaks repeated promises by President Obama's Justice Department that it was targeting only operations near schools and parks or otherwise in violation of the state's laws. They're not even pretending it's about state law anymore. Harborside has a permit from the City of Oakland and pays millions in taxes to the state of California. They've been covered extensively in the press, and featured on the Discovery Channel program "Weed Wars". Everyone knows exactly what goes on inside Harborside because we've seen it with our own eyes: they provide high-quality medical cannabis and other services to qualified patients. This is the definition of a legal and well-regulated medical marijuana dispensary.

So how are the feds justifying their attempt to shut down the most responsible business in the industry? They are claiming, I kid you not, that it's just too successful:

I now find the need to consider actions regarding marijuana superstores such as Harborside. The larger the operation, the greater the likelihood that there will be abuse of the state’s medical marijuana laws, and marijuana in the hands of individuals who do not have a demonstrated medical need. – U.S. Attorney Melinda Haag

i watched Weed Wars on Discovery and after watching i really didn't like their whole approach to medicinal cannabis. I also found the owner(s) incredibly annoying. I had to stop watching the show it was that bad. That's still not a real reason to shut them down. This conflict between state and federal laws needs to be resolved, as this will undoubtedly affect the real medicinal patients as well as those abusing the system; poor reasoning on Melinda's part.

Obama has taken more rights from us than any president to date, brought us into more debt than any other president and he has passed more executives orders than any other president to current date.

Obama is such an Narcissist he doesn't even see himself as fucking up but as the best thing ever.....We got to vote his ass out! We need a president who actually will follow his oath to upload the constitution.

Don't know where you are getting your information, or how you are deciding, but Bush seemed way worse in taking away rights.
And Obama hasn't brought the U.S. into debt like Reagan or Bush did.

Still, I wouldn't vote for him, as I consider him the biggest disappointment in the history of the U.S. presidency.
I see him as a plastic facade without any substance.
But less evil than Bush, if it is possible to compare.

the thing with unrealistic expectations is that disappointment is guaranteed. i think it was naive of people to think there was any real substance being all the "change" and "hope" rhetoric. "obama" as an individual has a lot less power than people like to imagine. the idea that one man has control of the whole machinery of government (or even his own party) is to misunderstand the reality of politics.
obama's election was an incredible symbolic shift for the united states, but if you really think the bad politics of the USA will dissolve overnight (or even in a couple of years) because of one man at the helm, you're going to be seriously disappointed every time.

Obama issued an executive order to cease deportation of most illegal aliens. If he merely aspired to keep his promise about MMJ--a promise that helped him get elected--he'd need only say the words and it'd be done.

If anything, he hasnt GIVEN us any extra rights, but I disagree hes taken more away from us. (key word disagree, Im not stating this as fact.) Hes not doing anything Bush hasnt already done.

I agree hes been lyin, and doesnt have nearly as much balls as I thought, but also keep in mind our 112th congress has been THE WORST congress in the history of our nation. The republicans have tried to repeal the Affordable Health Care act 33 different times. 33! They werent suggesting NEW laws that would replace the health care act, nope, they just spent their time trying to repeal it 33 times. While things that require REAL attention, like drugs, cyber security, piracy, etc etc never get attention from them. Oh but dont worry, the Democrats are JUST as bad. Unions anyone?
I read an article somewhere (which Ill try to find) that basically said the problem is that our Representatives dont actually "discuss" the matter, like civilized educated homo sapiens ala-greeks. Instead they just kind of decide on their own and vote. Theres no "Real" conversation on it. Someone might give a speech for 4 minutes, then someone else gives a speech. Our Representatives NEVER grill DEA administrators, or bankers, they ask them Baby-butt-soft questions, and move on. Its all a sham. Even obama.

The 112th has passed hardly any laws, and constantly try to get things amended to laws without taking votes, and so forth. Sketchy. They are most of the reason Obama looks so bad. Theres three branches of our government.... not just the executive. They claim to be representing us but the truth is this: 90% of people who want a political position, are narcissists, who else would go into politics? Someone who wants power, or at least to feel powerful. They arent intelligent, and I bet if we required IQ tests to be a part of the government, most congressmen/women would be fucking gone.

My two cents.
 
FYI Mitt Romney stated he is completely against "Medical Marijuana" and would never even consider discussing legalization.... The man is just another bible thumping zealot and if you want REAL change vote for Ron Paul!!!!!
