2012 major league baseball thread v. Playoffs make baseball watchable

wow the uniforms for the all star game are pretty lame, they look like the Royals jersey

My favorite jersey all time might be the old Long Island Lizards colors. Black and Lime Green, the best color combination

lol when I typed that I wrote "dark black" at first for some reason

ya boys up btw CR

damn the HR derby is gettin so advanced with distance / flight path tracking

also Twitter is fucking ruining sports, nobody cares that some random fan from South Dakota thinks Prince Fielder is going to win, christ.

I think Prince is gonna win though

twitter is only cool for sports

it's a loaded gun for athletes

and when they decide to pull the trigger it's fucking awesome

some random fan from scranton is sad mccutchen struggled and has decided to stop watching it

no facebook and smart phones

they are so counterproductive

supposed to bring the world together but actually is distancing society

back to baseball, feels good to have a favorite player again, former fav was vlad guerrero cause that dude didn't use batting gloves, laid back, and hit balls 450 feet that were in the dirt, and had a hose in right field back in his expos days

excited for home run derby

wish we were still in the steroid era though

not gonna count out my man mccutch....just think of garrett anderson and abreu a few years ago, not really power hitters but damn they made that shit look so effortless and smooth

i don't know what it is about my teams and having stars with the long dreads...'04-'06 u of minnesota with marion barber and laurence maroney(best damn running duo in big ten history ;)), steven jackson, and now mccutchen...i'm cool with it

oh and gopher's qb marques gray has dem dreads and he can potentially be a star, but only axl would understand

I understand your feels so much, bro. you're a Big Ten loving, 3 yards and a cloud of dust shouting, dreadlock admiring, Grateful Dead listening, die hard Pirates fan. we are bros to the extreme

hey... would you want to make it out to a Pirates game together, in a month or so? I know you know how beautifully AMAZEBALLS that ball park is - seriously the best ballpark next to Fenway Park (and that says a lot). we should hit up a game together, would be mad fun?

Ive been to the Pirates stadium, it is really nice

But I feel like most new stadiums are the same on the inside more or less its just about the location

then again im not an architect

AT&T Park (Giants Stadium) is pretty sweet too. Its right by the bay bridge and you can see the water just like in Pittsburgh.

Citizens Bank Park is pretty sweet as well. Its not in a cool location or anything (all the stadium in the city are next to each other in a huge parking lot basically) but you can see the field from pretty mich anywhere

i'd love to man but all my spare change is put away to go to music festies in ohio to see the best rock n roll band in columbus(and in all the land) ;).....ekoostik hookah

i'll probably be in the columbus area the last weekend of august for hookahville, maybe i'll stop by axltown for a beer before i make my way to the 'ville, i'll be in touch with ya when the time comes

everyone in and outside of pittsburgh says PNC park is the best there is....beauty, affordability, great location, parking lots for tailgating, it's just baseball utopia

first time i was at citizens band park my seat's view were completely obstructed by the right field foul pole, so there is at least one bad seat in that stadium

pretty much every stadium besides oakand and toronto is pretty sweet in their own ways, fucking love giants stadium

I meant you can see the field from the vending areas

shitty seats are shitty seats no matter what park youre in

I agree shimazu with these newer ballparks, it's all about location. and from what I've seen San Fran and Pitt have the best! being by water and facing your city's skyline are always must-haves, imo...

although I do have a soft spot for Fenway Pahk. I used to live a couple blocks away from that stadium when my band lived in that rather swanky side of town in Boston (paid for it by having 3, and sometimes 4 dudes in a 2 bedroom). with those old parks you can sort of smell the history hit you in the face. also the Green Monster is fucking epic

and kewl nice to know China Rider. you know that ekoostic hookah isn't rock n roll - LOL. hit me up after you are DONE hanging out with those dirty hippies, not during ;)

the best thing about turner field in atlanta is that there are like 3 people at the games. we are such a pathetic sports town.

hell yeah! something we can agree on. from my last trip:

hehehe, yeah, Fenway is gorgeous! I was so lucky to be able to see a couple Red Sox games when I was in Boston during the season where they bested Colorado to win their second (in recent memory) WS Championship... I got to go them due to a really nice older couple that were constant guests of mine at the bar I worked at. after a while, we talked more and they brought up how they were also from Ohio, so needless to say we hit it off right away. they were wealthy for being a relatively young couple, and they asked me, one night, if I was going to be off soon because they have an extra ticket to the baseball game down the street...

sadly, I told them that I wasn't going to be cut anytime soon, but they were also very close friends with the owner of my work - and they convinced them to let me get off of work, to see the game, right then and there!!

it was such a fun experience. I love it how the home crowd goes wild when the Green Monster cock-blocks a would-be, opposing home run. I even remember that the opponent of my first Red Sox game was the Texas Rangers...

my first baseball game was with my grandfather at Veterans stadium when I was like 7 or 8. I specifically remember them playin the Giants, because Barry Bonds got booed every time and cranked a home run en route to a Giants victory.

In all honesty the Vet was pretty shitty, and people just get nostalgic when they talk about it. The Spectrum was pretty cool though, something about the acoustics of it made the place get so damn loud. I can only imagine the noise when Laettner hit that buzzer beater against Kentucky.

well I don't know much about sports, but I do have a great fashion sense. and these Tampa Bay (devil) Rays throwbacks are the shit:

admittedly, I am a sucker for powder-keg blue (Chargers throw backs and UCLA, for example)

what the hell is that?

the REAL Rays throwbacks (The Devil Ray era Black unis) were so sick, that looks like something from Semi Pro

NY isn't known for it's baseball stadiums, or any stadium for that matter, other than MSG of course.

Most baseball fans in NY have gone to more Mets games than Yankee games, even if they are Yankee fans. Mets tickets are just given away more often, and you don't have to spend as much of a fortune there. I used to be a Yankee fan but stopped going to games when it got too expensive, and I stopped liking them after the first few world series wins in the late 90s. I don't like teams that throw around money to buy good players, so obviously that includes the Yankees.
